“Great Gym”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2012

Stayed for two nights on the way from UK and Bangkok. Shuttle service from airport efficient, cost 100HKD each, ran on time.
Friendly greeting from reception staff and even got upgraded for some reason.
Hotel room very good except for the rock hard beds. Great view
Breakfast ok.
Hotel right next door to small shopping mall with several food places.
The outstanding thing about this hotel was the gym (varied and well maintained equipment and very large for an hotel)
Great sauna and steam room.
Be warned this hotel takes very large groups, we encountered lots of Chinese who were very rude, pushing and shoving everyone out of the way. That's why they upgraded us to a high floor!!
Overall yes I would recommend this hotel.

When we booked this hotel, we hadn't realized that it was located in New Territories and not Kowloon. Therefore, the location is not the greatest and to get to Kowloon or even Hong Kong island, you must take a taxi as there's no subway station that connects New Territories to Kowloon or Hong Kong. The hotel is so big that it has 2 towers and you have to be careful when explaining to the cab driver in which tower your room is (even if it's a short walk). As for the room, it was very cozy and the view was breathtaking (skyscrapers all around). As for the airport, the hotel is located approximately 30-45 minutes away, which is the same thing if we had a booked a hotel in Kowloon. If you plan on visiting the main touristic attractions, then I don't recommend this hotel, but if you have business to attend in the New Territories, then go for it!

This hotel is located in the New Territories - it is therefore about an hour from TST and the Island but there is an excellent light rail, train or bus service. The only problem with this is if you plan trips to the outer islands, which necessitates an early start. It is, however, considerably less expensive than staying in the main areas. The hotel is quite characterless but is clean and well furnished and comfortable. Our room had a lounge area and basic kitchen, but no plates. There are plenty of food outlets in the adjacent malls. We were perfectly comfortable here and stayed for a week before moving on. Staying in the New Territories gave us a glimpse of life in Hong Kong away from the glitzy areas - go down to the Plaza in the morning and watch the Tai Chi.

This place offers both hotel rooms and serviced apartments, mainly in two separate towers, but there is some overlap. If you are staying for duration, I fully recommend the service apartment option as this is less than half the hotel price. I have experienced both and the only difference is that the maid service is daily (rather than 3 times a week) and you receive a range of bathroom products and bottled water and have to pay extra per day for internet access in the hotel room whereas it is free with the serviced apartments.

The reason why we stayed in this hotel is for it's accessibility to New Territories and for disabled guests. They only have a couple of accessible rooms, but our disabled guest did not have any problems accessing the hotel or the room. Even being in a far flung corner of Hong Kong in Tin Shui Wai, this hotels offers an unprecedented amount of space for your money. If you are staying for sometime, it is probably quite liveable. In a room/apartment (same thing), you get a bedroom area, separated partially by a slide across screen from the living room (with sofa and TV) and dining room area, kitchenette and bathroom. You also have access to the gym and leisure facilities, which are a little dated but functional and not too busy.

The staff are courteous and helpful to a certain extent - some more than others. The cleaners are good and the rooms don't show their age (10+ years). Expect large groups travelling from China and India as the long term stay packages are equivalent to youth hostel prices. Adjoining the hotel are the two parts of Kingswood Ginza, a local shopping centre for local people. It has some good places to eat (we loved chains Hakka Hut and Cafe de Coral) and a cinema on top of a small-ish selection of shops.

On the whole, this is a comfortable place to stay. Tin Shui Wai itself feels like a planned community - soul-less but fairly well planned out and felt relatively safe. There is nothing in the way of visitor attractions nearby, so to do those or to do real shopping, you need to get the light railway a couple of stops and change to the metro which isn't very difficult, but it can take some time to get to Hong Kong Island and also means you have a curfew for the last train home. There are shuttles to and from Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) and the airport but these are first come, first served so you are not guaranteed a space there or back.

Recommended for more comfort over longer term stays (some extremely good deals for 1 month+ stays) rather than a few days seeing the sights.

Room Tip: In the serviced apartment tower, rooms facing the front get the sun for most of the day.

Its different from past Hong Kong hotels experienced, being positioned in a safe suburban area. There's two main buildings, one with suites, open direct to the street but very safe. Excellent economical food outlets & restaurants and ample good shopping in adjacent buildings in fact whilst some limitations on range, clothing prices were excellent.

Its about 40 minutes on MRT to the city, a great experience but can be exhausting if you plan daily city trips. The light train is 12 minutes to the new Wetlands Park, a great example of ecotourism. An amazing array of fruits are sold at the trainline area each day, and great roasted chestnuts.

Rooms are just large enough, well serviced, very clean with tea/coffee making facilities. Quality fittings and very well appointed bathrooms. With more than ten years since my last visit, I would probably stay in the city next time, albeit a more expensive option. Then again walking outside to pleasant parks and uncrowded shops is possibly worth thinking about again. The little austere 'local' atmosphere could be improved and several staff in shops and the hotel had rather limited English.

Room Tip: Make sure to visit Wetlands Park and enjoy at least an hour walking around enjoying the flora and fa...

We went to this hotel as a big group of more than 50 people and everyone liked the hotel immediately.

The lobby is grand and nicely decorated. The rooms are spacious to say the least. Every room has a kitchenette with electric stove and tea maker and a small but well-furnished seating area. The bathrooms too are spacious and very well equipped. There are many large cupboards in the room providing excellent storage. Rooms are even equipped with Hair dryers.

The bed is cozy and the rooms are nearly completely dark with curtains. The A/c works very well. So you can be sure of good sleep.

The staff is courteous and many could speak fluent English.

The breakfast at “New York New York” is a grand affair with many choices. Although the vegetarians have little choices except for breads, juices and fruits etc., the non-vegetarians have many choices. Also KFC and McDonald’s are also close by.

Since we were a big group we had made special arrangement for Indian Vegetarian meals. This was cooked by an Indian cook and was better than what I had expected.

The hotel is close to MTR light rail station (Ginza) and travelling to city center is easy even though the hotel is situated in New Territories are which is bit far from airport etc.

There is Tin Shui Wai Central Park nearby and also a small shopping mall nearby.

Overall must try hotel in Hong Kong.
