“Excellent choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2010

This is a first rate hotel in a good location with great views over the Harbour.
The train from the airport is clean efficient and quick with a courtesy bus to the hotel.

The food is very good and the staff cannot be faulted. Their is a regular courtesy shuttle to Kowloon and the nearby ferry links to Hong Kong.

This is a wonderful hotel to stay in whilst in Hong Kong.
The service was good and the rooms nice. Just make sure that you say that you want a king room as we were give a double room which is what we would call a twin in the UK. The hotel is busy with alot of business travellers, but it is nice that it's out of the central craziness of Hong Kong.

Just a couple of things to note:
When staying at the hotel, if you don't want to pay for the expensive breakfasts, head out of the hotel doors and walk straight along the path in front of you. You will find a big boat to your right where there are shops and a supermarket. in this area you will also find a couple of cafes where you can buy breakfasts.

Buy an Oyster card at the airport/MTR station. It will make traveling around alot easier (and slightly cheaper).

The hotel is located in Kowloon, facing Victoria Harbour, ten-fifteen minutes walk from the Avenue of the Stars and the Intercontinental hotel. The close vicinity of the hotel is a quite dull residential area, but it is also relatively close to the bustling center of Kowloon and only one minute walk from the very convenient Hum Hong ferry pier.

We stayed in the Ocean Suite, which was pretty amazing: very big, with two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, dress room, and of course, the bedroom. The views very simply amazing: a 20 meters long and floor to ceiling unobstructed view of Victoria Harbour. Just great.

Everything was spotless, the bed very comfortable and the main bathroom excellently equiped. Of course slippers, bathrobes, and all that you may need was provided.

We didn't use the restaurant except for the breakfast buffet with was very good for the price.

The top of the building hosts a spa (we didnt use it, although it seemed pretty small) and a terrace with swimming pool. The views from there were fantastic.

Pros:
* Excellent Views of Victoria Harbour
* Excellent Rooms (at least the suite we used)
* Nice breakfast buffet (in our case not included in price)
* Good quality / price ratio
* Close to pier and therefore well communicated with the island and other areas of Kowloon.

Cons:
* Surrounding area is dull.
* Small SPA
* Ten - Fifteen minutes walk from commercial center of Kowloon
* No underground (MTR) nearby

Bottomline: If you can afford a suite in the Intercontinental or the Mandarin Oriental, then by all means go for it. But if you are a little bit more budget conscious and still want an excellent accommodation experience, the Harbour Grand Kowloon can be a great choice. I would definitely recommend it.

The Harbour Grand Kowloon is perhaps the best value of the four and five star business hotels in Hong Kong. It is slightly off the beaten trail in Hung Hom, a bustling residential neighborhood about a five minute drive from Nathan Road. I much prefer walking the streets of Hung Hom to the more commercial centers of the city.

The public spaces of the hotel are beautiful and well maintained, The buffet is well stocked for all meals and the business center, fitness center and club lounge are all up to par. The rooms, while comfortable are in need of an update (flat screen time!).

I have stayed here many times over the years when visiting HKG for conventions. Although the hotel sometimes has its own free ferry to the exhibition center, I prefer to walk two blocks to the Star Ferry for a nicer ride (if a bit longer).

A few years ago I raised a minor disappointment with the hotel, and the sales office appointed an accounts officer to my small business and he has since taken a personal interest to ensure my visits are a delight.

We have just returned from our holiday in Hong Kong and I must say that this hotel was one of the best I've stayed in. I was impressed with the large room and huge bathroom! You can swing a cat in the bathroom!! The room was always very clean and the staff will try very hard to please you. The breakfast buffet had a huge selection of food. My family loved being able to eat breakfast and look out onto the harbour. The hotel is away from Nathan Road but I liked being in a quieter area. The hotel shuttle bus takes you to Nathan Road every half hour and the driver leaves exactly on time. I love the efficiency! We will definately stay here again.
