“Great Hotel a little out of the main hub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Stayed here with my wife for 4 nights at the start of Sept 2013.

We were on the 9th floor close to the Club facilities which I'll cover shortly.

The hotel itself is about a 10 minute shuttle bus ride to the Nathan Rd area - free shuttle bus every 30 minutes from the hotel on a first come first served basis. The bus does a couple of stops on route to the final drop off. One of the stops is Moody Road which is a shopping and entertainment area with bars/cafes etc.............although at £14 for 2 drinks at a bar on the waterfront it isn't the cheapest area if your looking for a few refreshments!

Our room had a harbour view which was nice, we had originally been booked into a courtyard view which was basically lookinbg across to other rooms/offices. The room was large and well appointed ith the usual facilities. Absolutely no complaints

I used the hotel gym which was more than adequate and wasn't usually that busy, the machines are all relatively new and it was in a great position overlooking the harbour.

The Club rooms allowed you access to the Club Lounge at night for a couple of hours of complimentary beer/wine/fizz/snacks/tea/coffee and a coiuple of hot plates. Dress code was smart casual and dress shorts for men appeared to be acceptable. It also allows you free wi-fi access. You also have breakfast served in this lounge and again its what you would expect in fruit cereal, pastries, cold cuts, eggs, bacon toast etc

The hotel reception was very smart and has a cafe for pastries etc although we didn't use it.

While there we did the hop on hop off bus tour which was a great way to see Kowloon and HK island, and the ticket for that also lets you access the Peak Tram ( which is a drop off point for the bus). For bargains try the Ladies market just off Nathan Road, again the hop on hop off bus has a stop near there. If you fancy using public transport try the buses which are very cheap, just have the correct change though. You can get a bus from Nathan Rd near to the Ladies Market to the star ferry for around $2.40 and from memory its the number 1,1a and 2 buses which are very regular. The buses are spotless and all signs on the front of the bus for destinations are in Chinese and English.

A girl called Icy in the Club Lounge was very helpful with directions and suggestions for trips etc.

Room Tip: Harbour View all the way

Great view from within the restaurant, even better from the rooftop pool.
I was upgraded to a suite, so I couldn't complain on lack of space.
Only point if criticism: at such rates, I think internet should be complementary.

We have stayed a number of times at the Harbour Grand under its various names and always look forward to returning. This time was a 5 day visit and it was all that we remembered. This is one of, if not, the best hotel that we use. From the outside entrance through to the magnificent reception area it is just fabulous. We have always had a harbour view room and so cannot comment on all of the rooms. The harbour view rooms are spacious, very well equipped and exceptionally comfortable, especially the bed. the views are spectacular. Breakfast is served in a room with panoramic views of the harbour, occasionally a good idea to have sunglasses available. The meals in all the restaurants are first class and coupled with some of the best service in the world then you have almost utopia. check in and out is very speedy, the shuttle bus to Kowloon is always on time.......how with the traffic remains a mystery after all these years. The rooms are kept immaculate. The concierge is spot on with lots and lots of information, translations for taxi drivers...in fact anything you can think of. A first rate hotel that we look forward to returning to.

Room Tip: I have marked location as average because the hotel can appear to be a little way out but don't...

Very comfortable hotel with great views of the harbour from the lobby, restaurants and rooms. The spacious lobby has a grand staircase and floor-to-ceiling windows up to the mezzanine level providing the best view if the harbour. Waterfront promenade just outside the hotel is ideal for a morning or evening stroll.

Located in a neighborhood where there are more locals yet in a nice area by the harbor. The only drawback is the lack of metro station within walking distance but one can always take the ferry from the harbour to get to Hong Kong island, which probably faster during peak hours. This is one of my favorite hotels in Hong Kong.

a truelly great hotel, we booked for the harbour club, and it was excellent. breakfast, afternoon nibbles etc. free wi-fi. great service. the manager/concierge (icy) was of the utmost help. making you feel like a resident. i would gladly stay here again, everytime. i have stayed in a lot of hotels, and this is one of the best, my favorite... great views, pool, in excellent room.. free shuttle service to and from shopping areas, most helpful.
cant say enough or recommend it high enough...

Room Tip: pay a little extra for the harbour club. you get free breakfast. afternoon nibbles, including drinks...

Great views of the harbour, very comfortable bed. Lovely lobby.
Great promenade for a daily walk.
This hotel offered us everything we required for 3 nights, the shuttle bus is a plus as the hotel is not the most central. We did however find the taxis not too expensive and there were always several available at the hotel entrance.
The harbour is very busy and always something happening, it was a pleasure sitting outside having a drink and watching the world go by.

The Harbour Grand is top quality hotel with great views (at extra cost) of the harbour towards Hong Kong Island. It has a beautiful entrance lobby. My only complaint was that it was not that easily accessible to the Metro as the other hotel we stayed in. The service was very good.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted to learn that you took advantage of the upgrade from Courtview room to Harbourview room at a little extra cost. However, it’s a shame to hear that the Metro was not as accessible as you wanted it. As our hotel’s vantage point is “Space in the City” – this means it is located a little further away from the Metro. Despite this, the Metro can be reached within 10 minutes via our hotel’s free shuttle bus or by a 5 minute taxi ride. Also, please be advised that the MTR to area is currently under construction and is expected to be ready in 2015. Regardless of the MTR issue, we hope that you have enjoyed your trip to Hong Kong and look forward to welcoming you back should the opportunity arise.
