“Not Advisable for Vegetarians”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

Its a typical business class hotel, though centrally located. Food a big dis advantage here for Vegans. Check in slow . I had three rooms but they gave me two rooms only in evening 4pm.
Staff not that polite as required and lack knowledge of basic information required by tourists.

I expected quite a lot by this hotel and I was surprised by the (apparently) incredible quality/price ratio. I discovered later that concerning the rooms you get what you pay for...
Rooms were clean but quite noisy, the service just average

If you are going to be in Kowloon you need to be downtown where all the action is. This hotel certainly fits the bill. It is well within walking distance or a short cab ride for great shopping, amazing restaurants, even great tailors (we like Pete's Tailor shop). The front desk folks were very helpful recommending sites to see, currency exchange options, and directions. Rooms were well appointed and clean.

For the price we got - USD109 per night (taxes included) we had a very good deal. It included round trip transfers from Airport to Hotel and back and daily buffet breakfast. Only caveat, this price has a no-cancellation policy so do it only if you are very sure to go. For the same price, there is another deal without breakfast.
Breakfast
The food choices were satisfactory with some variety due to the different stations. There was a bread station, salads and fruits, Vietnamese noodles, Egg station, hot dishes. The Chinese and Indian sections had more limited choices.
Location
It is within Tsimshatsui East area which is a tourist area. We got a room overlooking the garden and could see the harbor obliquely. We took a stroll along the harbor until Ocean Terminal. If you like to walk (which is default in HK) location is good. Per some Tripadvisor reviews, some were complaining that the station is 5 mins away but takes another 5-10 mins to the trains (depending on how fast u walk) but I think this was manageable. There is only one station Tsimshatsui so it depends on which exit your hotel is. There will be a walk.
Staff - the reception, a young lady who welcomed us was very good. However, the concierge needs some improvement. We requested for a taxi but when one arrived, he let another gentleman get on it when we were the ones who requested for a taxi. We decided to walk instead. Also, they weren't able to give us good tips where to dine. Housekeeping is also satisfactory as they responded quickly the couple of times we needed help.
Room
Bigger compared to other room sizes of other hotels of same price range as I researched. It had 2 queen size beds and still had space for our luggages. There were complaints for hard beds but we found it ok. Room was clean.
Overall, it was a good place to stay in HK.

Room Tip: follow other tips - higher room and request for garden view if possible.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014

I went on a business trip to HK from 10-13 May 2014 and stayed at Regal Kowloon Hotel.

Booking and Check-in: I booked online, through Regal Kowloon’s website. Check-in took awhile because there were 20 guests checking-in. Although I paid online, they will swipe your card for confirmation or as security. Front desk issued a room card. Considering the number of guests at the time, vouchers for the breakfast buffet were just delivered to the room.

Rooms: I got a superior room. The room was spacious in comparison with other Kowloon/Hong Kong Hotels and was actually good.

Toiletries and complimentary water were immediately replenished the moment you leave your room. Internet/wifi connection was limited to mobile devices only. Because of this limitation, I was not able to use my laptop.

Facilities and Amenities: The hotel lobby and other areas are pleasant, a bit dated but ok.

Food: The breakfast buffet consisted of Continental, Chinese, and Indian cuisine. The food was the same though for the duration of my stay.

Staff: Efficient service. Concierge was very helpful. They took care of receiving my “lost” baggage and a package I was expecting from a client.

Location: Regal Kowloon is located in the East TST area. Although it is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of TST, it is 2 or 3 blocks from the MTR station (a good 10-15 minute walk) and it will take another 15-20 minutes to get to the main TST Station. During my stay, HK was experiencing heavy thunderstorms. It was really difficult to get to or from the MTR station coming from the hotel. Also, there is not much shopping in the area and very limited food choices.

Check out: As everything was paid for online, check out was a breeze. I just surrendered the room card.

In summary, the location of Regal Kowloon is a major consideration if you decide to stay here. Any savings from the hotel’s competitive price will be offset by an increase in transportation costs and/or the extra time/effort to get to the MTR station.

We were three adults who stayed here.Room size was very generous with a spacious bathroom and very well maintained decor and furniture-which included two comfortable double beds..
Buffet breakfast was outstanding with a lot of excellent choices even for vegetarians like ourselves.
The location is very convenient-just a few minutes from Tsim Sha Tsui East MTR,attractions like Avenue of stars and the Museum of Art and also vegetarian/Indian restaurants like New Sangeet close by.
Staff were very helpful at all times.
A few minuses were -free wifi was only in the lobby area that too for only one 30min session each day.Wifi in the rooms was very expensive.
There's no seating in the lobby-standing around for checkin and tours gets very tiresome.
The single checkin counter leads to long queues for checkin-as several guests have a lot of enquiries.
Maybe ,guests with prior reservations should be handled separately.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 9th floor which was very silent and peaceful.
