“Shangri La; an aptly named hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

Hotel rate was expensive but reasonable, considering world-wide costs of first rate hotel accommodations. From the moment you approach the front door of the hotel, well before you enter the lobby, you will feel that staying at this hotel was the right call.

Room Tip: Mattress was firmer than I expected or prefer. Had a minor problem with water drainage in the tub...

Our family of 4 stayed in a Harbour View Suite for 6 nights. The suite consisted of 2 large rooms, one with a king size bed, desk, arm chairs and dressing area and another room with a lounge, desk and 2 rollaway beds. In addition the suite included 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette. All furnishings and fittings were of a high quality but the winning feature was the floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows in both rooms. The view back into Hong Kong was spectacular and the evening laser show happened right outside our window. We lucked out big time and also saw a magnificent fireworks display from our suite to celebrate national day.Yes, it was expensive but we loved it. The price also included daily bottled water, fruit and coffee capsules and access to the Club floor where we had a cooked breakfast each morning and occasionally in the evening we had some snacks and drinks when the children needed an early night. The location was great with easy access to the subway and a short walk to the ferry. I would highly recommend this property and would certainly stay there again, in the same accommodation. Definitely paying for the view is worth it.

Kowloon Shangri-La provides a great location and exquisite hospitality. Great view of Hong Kong Harbor, close to the promenade, and various modes of public transportation. We were upgraded upon arrival to a suite with spectacular view of the harbor. Fantastic breakfast and Lobby Bar with great live entertainment. Lots of personal attention and luxurious lobby.

My wife and I loved our 5 day stay in this hotel, if you stay in Hong Kong stay here and upgrade to signature floor 19 and 20 and free drinks in the afternoon and free breakfast , very high end amnesties which make you feel like like a millionaire. The views out to Victoria Harbour are spectacular at day and night. Little things like tea service in the room and fresh fruit everyday and butler service at your disposal. Location is awesome close walk to everything and subway is across the street and is by far the best means of travel and the most user friendly in the whole world. I love this place. I wish I stayed here for 2 weeks

We initially were put into a room on the 18th floor that was quiet but smelled strongly of mold so asked to be moved. We were moved to a room on the 10th floor, which was gorgeous and had a beautiful view of the water, but was noisy. We could hear the noise from the boats, as well as traffic. The noise wasn't too bad, but definitely evident. If you could get a room with a harbour view, I would definitely recommend it. The city is gorgeous to look at during your morning tea or coffee in your room. The 1 bedroom suite is also wonderful, because they provide you with tea and a Nespresso machine. The service personnel at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The beautiful and elaborate hotel is quite busy with westerners, so it feels a bit like a large Vegas hotel, lacking the personal touch. Also, elevators were annoying, constantly beeping but not alerting you with a louder beep when an elevator has arrived on your floor. We were constantly missing elevators because we did not know it had arrived on our floor. This is a minor complaint though for how large and fantastic the rooms were, and the superb location. About 3 blocks away is a great small noodle place called A3 or something like that? Definitely recommend you try this small restaurant for a quick bite of wonton noodles or beef stew noodles and get some vegetable dish - they are perfectly cooked. Clean and delicious food!

Room Tip: Choose a floor above the 11th floor for a quiet sleep.

Dear LApuplover, thank you for your constructive feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the fabulous views from our Harbour-facing rooms, but sorry that your first room was not perfect - we have taken this out of service to address the odour you experienced and freshen up the room. We are looking into your comment about the elevators and hope to come up with a better solution soon. Thank you for staying with us, regards Timothy Wright

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

I stayed int his hotel again in Sept 2013. I was pretty happy with my stay here earlier, however, during this trip I found the check in and check out experience quite bad. The line was like a ticket counter. More than that, the quality of the breakfast was bad. Strawberries were discoloured, there were no nuts with the cereals and the Croissants and the breads were BAD.

More than that, when I walked in and asked for Hot Chocolate it never came and also when I went to the bakery section asking for Waffles or pancakes no one was around. A staff came and told me that he will arrange for it but even after waiting for around 15mins I did not get it. Croissants were bad and not at all crisp.

Dear babla75, thank you for your review and constructive feedback. I am most concerned to learn you did not have such a good experience the second time you stayed with us. I note that you were kept waiting for check-in and check-out and that you were disappointed with the quality of food & service at breakfast. I believe our Food & Beverage Director, Antoine has been in touch with you so we may address your feedback regarding your breakfast experience. Thank you once again for sharing your comments, regards Timothy Wright

Stayed 4 nights for business. First they welcomed me with complimentary hot Chinese tea and fruits. The room is clean and well appointed. The staff very attentive and friendly. The location is convenient, 5mins walk to sightseeing spot: Avenue of Stars and 5 mins walk to Tsim Sha Tsui station.
I would like to come back here again if i have a chance for next HK trip.
