It's expensive BUT worth every penny. If you can afford it, you must stay at this hotel. We are fairly regular, maybe two to four times per year but I'm still surprised when the staff remember us by name as we walk in. The fact that the staff are all stiil there is a testament to the employer

Room Tip: stay in the Horizon Clob

And it was all down to service.

Everything was what you would expect of a leading hotel. However the service set this hotel head and shoulders above all the others we have stayed in recently.

The people were all excellent, and the Horizon club was just awesome.

Room Tip: on all floors 01 to 05 are the best

I stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The harbour view deluxe rooms were immaculate and I loved the small touches (e.g., housecleaning leaves a nice bookmark on your pillow every night and places slippers beside the beds). I always came back to find fresh fruit, hot tea, and bottled water. Very luxurious bathrooms with a bathtub TV and music. The breakfast buffet carries every cuisine and was delicious. Location was excellent too, with easy access to the MTR. The staff were fantastic and provided very helpful assistance and travel recommendations. Only downside was that the check in process took too long (~20 minutes due to lineups and questions). Great stay overall!

We have been traveling in and out of HK for almost 25 years and we have stayed in several different hotels. However, we always come back to the Island Shangri La!
This is a beautiful hotel with excellent food and service, spacious rooms and extremely pleasant staff. There will always be newer and more modern hotels in HK since they are always building and new things appear on a weekly basis. But the Island Shangri La has aged well; it is timeless and elegant. Everything is as well maintained and looked after as it was when it first opened.
The location is terrific too with easy access to shopping (if you are a tourist), the MTR and the office buildings of Central (if you are on business). The restaurants are some of the best known in HK (Summer Palace and Petrus). If you decide to spring for a room on the executive floor you have the priceless bonus of breakfast in the morning and cocktails at night, in the executive lounge on the 56th floor with it's spectacular view of the harbour.
On our most recent visit we arrived at the hotel from the airport at 7am. Our room on the executive floor was immediately available (no waiting until an afternoon check-in time) for which we were very grateful as we had just come off an overnight flight and we were exhausted. We were able to have breakfast, take a nap and be showered and out the door by 11am!
Needless to say we will be back again to the Island Shangri La on our next visit to HK.

Room Tip: The executive rooms are really worth the additional charge. If you want a harbour view room you sho...

We always stays at the Shangri-La Group when we travel in Asia. And Island Shangri La in Hong Kong is our favourite among others within the group. The room is extremely spacious in comparision to other hotels in HK. The service is impeccable and the food in all the restaurants is delicious. We usually choose the Horizon Club when we stay at Shangri La but Island is an exception because having breakfast at Cafe Too in the morning and having tea in the hotel lobby is the highlight of our stay in Hong Kong.
We have alreasy booked our flight to visit Hong Kong in June next year and we very much looking forward to see all the friendly faces at Isalnd Shangri La from the gentleman who greets us at the airport to the gentleman who opens the limo door and bids us safe journey when we leave.
By the way, does anyone know when they change the daily carpet in the lifts?

Room Tip: Best room: Harbour view. Above the 50th Floor. Try to book XX02 / XX03 / XX04 / XX05. XX represent...

Beautiful rooms, harbourview is unbeatable.
Horizon Club is the most decadant hotel club lounge I have ever seen. Love the outdoor poor and well sized gym.
Highly recommend Cafe Too for a gluttonous buffet!
Great location, walking distance to HK Park and Pacific Place Mall

We have stayed here many times as a couple and with our family. It's a fantastic place that I couldn't recommend more highly.

The service is impeccable and of course each time we check in they remember our personal preferences.

Fantastic with children as well - the room has special kid friendly amenities and they get delivered lovely bedtime supper snacks as well.

Rooms are a generous size by Hong Kong standards and bathrooms as you'd expect stocked with really thoughtful amenities.

You really do feel like you can make yourself at home here - views are amazing from the room. TV, DVD player comes in handy with children. They even have scissors to cut off all the tags on your new clothing bargains!

Highly recommended from the minute they open the door of your taxi until they close it when you are leaving. We always try to stay here for at least a few nights every trip as a treat.
