“Does it get any better than this ?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

A five star TripAdvisor rating for a hotel which is surely more stars than that. The ultimate in service, quality, space, charm, attention to detail, luxury and convenience. I have stayed here on numerous occasions for business and find it an absolute haven in heavy Hong Kong. If you have some cash to splash and want to feel really special, go for it. And it's location, right above the Pacific Place shopping mall means that you can make the most of the spare time that you have to pickup items that you need and get some good nosh at the many restaurants there.

when in kowloon - this is the best place to stay in ! old world charm along with modern rooms caring service . just as you enter the lobby you get struck by the beautiful ambience and rich decor.
the rooms are random , some are large some aren't - however i havent stayed in one which is small .

Room Tip: if you can - book a suite

Stayed here in March 2013 on holiday.

All I can say is Wow!! The great experience starts as soon as one gets out of the cab and enters the hotel. The front desk receptionists were very friendly and helpful...and got me into my room before 11am.

The room was very comfortable and quite spacious. The bathroom was nice as well...the only complaint there was the water temp in the shower, which was hard to get right. The view was very nice as well. One complaint in the main room...the window shades need to overlap a bit more for complete darkness.

The room service was great...very timely. Just don't order the pizza...I don't know why I did. The Chinese was really good.

The hotel is right in the middle of the action and just a short drive from Central offices, Wan Chai partying and Soho chic-ness. It also sits atop the fancy Pacific Place Mall, which I experienced for the first time.

The Concierge was very helpful, with spot on suggestions for restaurants and shopping. Very helpful.

Unfortunately I didn't get to lounge in the pool or get to the health club or spa.

I would stay here again for sure...and recommend others to do so as well.

I chose to stay based on price but would return for the smiles and service. It was a really enjoyable stay - rooms clean and well appointed, the Club level was well staffed and despite being in the middles of Chinese New Year, I never felt crowded or ignored. Well done!!
PS: the breakfasts at Petrus were outstanding

One of many choices in Hong Kong for an exceptional hotel. The location is terrific, facilities are great (especially the health club) and staff is very helpful. The breakfast buffet offers a complete selection of English/American and asian food.

Room Tip: High floor with a view.

Stayed for one night en route to Australia on business. Having never been to HK before, this hotel is smack in the middle of the island, with stunning views of the city. Also walking distance to the peak tram ride. The hotel is all about service, with people greeting you everywhere and doing anything and everything to make you feel welcome. They actually still have keys! Well, not real keys but it all adds to the look. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the executive floors with free lounge for 2 hours each evening. They change the carpet of the lifts every night to say the day. They wave you off as you leave. Internet access is brilliant. Rooms are large by HK standards (I have been told - to me it was not a full suite, but was simply a nice room).
The only downside is the price. It was expensive to stay and expensive to have a few drinks in the bar, but if you only have a short period of time to stay, I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

I was a regular business traveller to Grand Hyatt but this time decided to try out the Island Shangri la for a change and was glad i did. First the location is fantastic as its part of the pacific place shopping mall with the Conrad hotel and JW Mariott next door. The hotel has some of the largest rooms i have seen in Hong Kong with a really nice Asian Luxury feel to it. The service is also really great with anything you want delivered in a few minutes. The gymn is small but functional and pool is heated and small. The location is best because its about 10 minute taxi drive from the HK station and its attached to the pacific place shopping mall which has bars, restaurants, movie theatre and fantastic shopping. The bathroom is quite spacious with a sunken bath with an installed small TV so you can unwind while watching ESPN or CNBC. Will definately switch going forward. One small complaint was that the matress was hard as a brick but i called and they put some foam padding to make it more comfortable

Room Tip: ask for a harbour view room it might cost a little extra but worth it
