“My favorite hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

The JW Marriott at Pacific Place, Central, Hong Kong is the hotel against which I compare all others. Great location, wonderful accommodations, excellent restaurants, and the nicest most attentive staff one could ask for. This JW is, in my opinion, one of the top hotels in the world.
There are many options in HK, but none better than this.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

We stayed at the JW Marriott for 7 nights as part of a 3 week trip to Asia. This was our first visit to Hong Kong. We took the Airport Express to Hong Kong station and then the free hotel bus to the Marriott. This was a really easy and straight forward way to get there. The hotel buses are well signposted once you get off the airport express and the shuttle bus goes every 20 mins. H1 is the bus for the Marriott and the Pacific Place hotels are the first stop, the Marriott being the 4th of the Pacific Place stops.

Check in was efficient and friendly, in fact the friendliness of all the staff at the Marriott was remarkable. Thanks to my girlfriends Marriott Gold Card we were given a room on the 32 floor overlooking the harbour. The JW is a block or 2 back from the shore and the distance seems to be increasing thanks to land reclamation but the view was still amazing. There are other hotels with better views of the harbour but I never tired of watching the boats move to and fro.
The JW is an excellent base for sightseeing and traveling around Hong Kong. There is direct access to the MTR from the mall under the hotel and there are tram and bus stops just outside.
There are many restaurants in the Pacific Mall as well as a great supermarket on the bottom floor. Most of the rest of the shops are seriously upmarket, quite a lot of window shopping going on but we didn't see many purchases being made!

You can access a number of other hotels from the mall without going outside, we had drinks in both the Conrad and the Shangri La. Whilst we only can compare the lobbies, bars and staff friendliness we preferred the JW to the other hotels.

The swimming pool at the JW was closed for renovations while we were there, this was disappointing because we weren't informed before hand, in fact the hotel website said that the pool had re-opened in February after a major renovation. We were able to use the pools at the Conrad and the Shangri La.
Our room was beautifully appointed, very comfortable bed, great desk and armchair - can't see anyone getting much work done with that view! The bathroom had everything you would expect. Seperate shower with good water pressure.
The only thing of note that was lacking were power sockets! Only 2 in the whole room, with 2 ipads, and 3 phones to charge as well as using the hairdryer and iron 2 sockets didn't quite cut it!

The food and beverage outlets in the hotel are many and varied. We had the choice of having breakfast either in the Executive lounge on the 33rd/34th Floor or the Marriott Cafe. We chose the Marriott Cafe at the Lobby level, mainly because of the much broader buffet selection and more space. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, great food and good service.
We visited the Executive Lounge most evenings for a drink before dinner, wine and spirits are available in the lounge between 5.30pm and 8pm. The lounge is on 2 floors, food and drink downstairs with more seating upstairs. The views make it a great spot for an early evening drink.

We chose to eat out most nights to experience Hong Kong although we did eat in the Marriott Cafe one evening and had lunch in the Lobby Lounge once. Both were very fine in an international hotel sort of way.
The Lobby Lounge seemed to be full every day at lunchtime, it seems to be a firm favourite with people who live and work nearby.
The Q88 wine bar is the hotel's bar. It has a great selection of wines by the glass. The live entertainment was interesting! A reasonably good band but way too loud! A number of people were complaining about the volume, so much so that the band took to announcing that if you didnt like the volume 'you were in the wrong place' That would be fine in a club or an external bar but the Q88 is the only bar in the hotel. The bands attitude was rude, arrogant and bizarre! We simply asked to take our wine out to the Lobby Lounge, this was accommodated very efficiently and was quite obviously a regular occurrence.
We had a wonderful week at the JW Marriott with the outstanding memory being the friendliness of the staff. We would definitely return.

The hotel was located in Admiralty. The Admiralty MTR (train station) is located a few minutes stroll through the shopping mall on the lower ground level of the hotel.

The rooms were adequate with a desk by the window and an armchair and foot stool. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was very little noise on the 8th floor. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower.

Room service was nice for breakfast and dinner with lots of choice. Service was outstanding. Would visit again.

This hotel was located in Central, HK , Admiralty MTR station. Victoria Peak Tram was about 10 minutes walk.
The service is outstanding from bell service to housekeeping. The gym was well attended to, there are towels and water on each machine. Fruits were available daily.
There is a Park n Shop in the connecting Queensway Mall and Watson's Pharmacy in Pacific Place.
Unfortunately, the swimming pool was under renovations but we were given access to use Shangri La's pool. That was a great plus!
I can't wait to go back !

I've stayed here several times and I am never disappointed.

The staff are very professional, polite and efficient. Check in is always fast, the rooms are fine. The bathroom is sizeable and nice, the room itself is compact, the bed is comfortable and the view nice. I love it when I arrive at night and there is chinese tea brought to the room. It's a nice touch. The location is excellent. I will often walk back from Central to the hotel

I really like the fitness facilities and I have had excellent massages at relatively short notice.

Would definitely recommend

Located in Admiralty and next to Pacific Place this is an excellent location for a personal or work trip if you need to be close to Central or Wanchai!
The rooms are compact but well laid out with a good work desk and plenty of natural light. The bathrooms are spacious with a bath and separate shower. The hotel's gym facilities are great, unfortunately the pool as under renovation but there was the option to use the Conrad or Shangri La's pool close by. A great breakfast buffet with choice of Chinese, Indian or Western dishes.
One of the Pacific Place entrances is located below the hotel so perfect for shopping and the MTR is a quick air conditioned walk beside the shopping centre.
The staff were brilliant, very helpful and obliging. I would definitely recommend this property!

Perfect, from check in, room service, coffee shop, restaurant, room comfort, internet service, check out,
Very well located. There is no words. Extremely comfortable, and service is excellent.
I will come back, every time, I need to travel to Hong Kong. I feel, very well after a busy travel in several Asian Countries, and to be at Marriott, is good relax, stay.
