We used to have to go downtown for good Shanghainese dim sum, but no more. Xia Fei has a terrific pipa duck, which is a roasted duck served Peking style, with the skin, scallions, served rolled up. What makes this duck special is that the meat is then minced and cooked and served with lettuce leaves afterward. Usually, the meat part of the duck is not nearly as delicious as the skin, but this one is as good as the skin course. Noodles are freshly made (the noodle maker makes them behind a glass window) and delicious. Most of the kitchen is behind glass, so the sanitation is undoubtedly much better than the vast majority of dim sum restaurants. The other Shanghainese dishes are also very good, although the kafu (gluten) is a bit harder than I like. The xiao long bao are also very good, with very thin skins and bursting with soup and flavor. The prices are quite reasonable. One quibble- the restaurant does not have its own restrooms, so you have to use the Stanley Mall ones down the hall past the information desk and which are on the icky side. There is also a nice, very quiet and spacious private dining room for larger groups.
