“Don't let the location stop you!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

We went to the MingCha tea house after seeing it was the number 1 shop on TripAdvisor.

Although it isn't located near Central Hong Kong it is very easy to get there. By taking the island line to Tai Koo, the building is located opposite to on one of the exits.

The tea house is on the 12th flour of a factory building. The name of the building is as shown on above and can be seen from the street. Once inside ask the staff for help, they'll guide you to the elevator which brings you to the twelfth flour where MingCha is located.

Once inside we were welcomed by the staff. We were the only visitors at the time (around 17:00) and is was a very warm welcome. We had a tea tasting experience which was priced 180 HK$ for the two of us.

The tea we tasted was great and they could tell us a lot about it! The required temperatures, the best temperature for the best taste. And they could tell us about how the tea was made and the differences between the teas. We had a nice conversation with the director, Vivian Mak, as well.

So, don't let the location stop you from going there. If you like tea and have time, go to the MingCha tea house!

“A relaxing hidden jewel in a busy city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014 via mobile

My friend who I went to Hong Kong with suggested this place after doing some research. What we found was a friendly very experienced and welcoming tea house, Tomoko and her staff were very knowledgable and happy to answer any questions we had. The previous review stated it was a little hard to find, but we had no problems, get off at the tai koo stop on the island line, and find exit A1 and pretty much opposite the exit is the wa ha factory building and it's on the 12th floor.

“Perfect place for tea lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Once we have been in Hong Kong we had to visit some tea house. This one was recommended on Tripadvisor so we gave it a try and it was really worth it.
Getting there is not easy, we came from metro station Tai Koo. We entered by back door of the building and we had a luck there was some worker who pointed us to the right floor, otherwise we would leave because it does not seem there will be such famous store.
We decided to taste some of the teas they offer, the whole tea tasting experience was perfect perfect. Everything regarding tea has been explained to us, actually we ended in quite nice conversation about everything (culture/local habits etc.), After this excellent experience we decided to spent some money, I think you can't leave this store without buying something. We bought lot of tea and pots.
Just one thing I did not like, considering the amount of money spent there the tea tasting did not have to be charged to us. But I can understand that it was not just a tea we drunk, but also the time they have spent with us. And 4 hours passed like nothing.
So if you are real tea lover, go there and enjoy some good tea with plenty of information to absorb.

“A Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Though I nearly gave up finding the place after asking several different people for directions, it was well worth the wait!

We had the place to ourselves and were served by Fiona; who was wonderful. I felt like a became a tea expert in two hours, and bought some to enjoy when back in the UK.

This is the thing to do for a fun experience to end a trip to Hong Kong, and the best thing is, is that even though the tea is expensive, I didn't feel like i was jostled into buying anything. This is a rarity and really appreciated.
