We are expats living in Hong Kong and pass by Rick's frequently since it is located right on the escalators. It was a hot Sunday afternoon so we decided to give it a try and we were very happy we did.
We were seated at the window looking right out at the escalators, so it was a great people watching location. The bartender was very nice and outgoing, he recommended the lychee martini and I was so happy he did. It was one of the best I've had (he muddled lychees and then made the drink, plus added a whole lychee). It was so refreshing and delicious, we had 2 each! He was constantly checking on us and seeing if we needed anything.
We ordered the hummus and pita bread, Haloumi salad (the best we've had in Hong Kong) and the eggplant, all were delicious. The bartender came to clear our dishes and noticed there was the eggplant sauce still in the dish and said we were leaving the best part. He left and came back with a plate of pita bread to "mop" up the sauce and said it was on the house. Very nice touch.
With the location sitting right on the escalators, the prices were slightly higher than other places serving the same dishes, but it was well worth it if you like to people watch and enjoy an afternoon of good food and drinks. We will definitely be back.
