Despite how globally integrated we have become, there still is this nagging bias to believe that a specific cuisine can only be prepared properly by people from that culture. Can you possibly go to Tokyo and eat an amazing French meal prepared by a Japanese chef? Can you go to New York and have a wonderful Spanish meal prepared by an American chef?
The answer to both questions today is yes - that may not have been the case ten years ago, but it is true today.
So, here in Hong Kong, if you have a longing for a delicious pasta dish, try Linguini Fini. The pasta is homemade and the puttanesca dish I had was perfect from the pasta perspective - so fresh, just firm enough. The sauce was really nice. What was missing a little we're the other ingredients that make a puttanesca stand out - capers, anchovies and black olives (there were some of the later but the sauce could have used more). The missing or understated elements of the dish, however, are overshadowed by the pasta.
Started with a classic caprese which was good. And the wine list was fine - had a really nice 2007 Barbaresco.
If we could give incremental stars, this place is at least a 3.5.
