“New Hotel, close to to MRT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

Styaing there on 02/Mar to 04/March with family and group of friends...

Good location & convenient, 2 min walking distance to Yau Ma Tei MTR station. Local Restaurant is just around the corner. 5 min to temple street, 10 min walk to women street & gun street.

Rooms are small (typical Hong Kong rooms) but trendy, clean and pretty. No space for luggage but you can put it at baywindow.

Staff was helpful & friendly.

Cons: - There's fewa coffin shop near by & Breakfast choice is limited (but you can have your breakfast at near by local restaurant) with variety choice. Free Wifi available at lobby only (i hopes they improve this by now).

Despite being a new hotel, scuff marks from luggage all over the walls since it's so cramped. Bay window a great idea if you have no luggage. Shower curtain is too short and too narrow so washroom floor and toilet wet after shower, plus no floor mat to dry your feet. Double bed mattress was uncomfortable made from two singles pushed together. Poor breakfast selection and wi-fi is poor.

A very new hotel, just opened in late Dec 2010. So things were new, clean and in order when we stayed there on a Saturday in late Feb 2011. Complimentary upgrade of room (23rd floor) was a pleasant surprise. Rooms are small (typical Hong Kong rooms) but cosy, clean and pretty with bay window and tasteful furnishings and lighting. Some smart space saving ideas in room, such as the artistic wall installation (metal tree that clothes hangers could hang on). Pity about the shower design; the shower area is right next to the sink without any barrier so the shower water wets the standing area in front of the sink as it drains. Staff eager to please, helpful. E.g. could advise what bus to take to reach Star Ferry for light show and further suggest the MTR to the same destination. Breakfast was adequate, meets expectations, breakfast area clean, light-filled and relatively empty on a Sunday morning. Prices very high on weekend, another regret and hence my 3-point rating for value, though I gather that weekday rates are lower. But location convenient, very near Yau Ma Tei MTR station with tasty and cheap eats round the corner.

Room Tip: Request a higher floor for better view.

I was in a dilemma as I was booking the room since most review stated that the room is small. I stayed in alot of budget or boutique hotel before but M-Hotel is probably the smallest. Do not trust the photos on the web as what is shown is a deluxe room. My twin standard room basically consist of an 8sqm space. With the wall and bathroom glass sticking at the edge of the bed. Between the 2 single bed, there's only about 50cm space. But as I'm always out shopping, space is not my main concern. But as a whole I'm happy to choose M-hotel for my trip. The hotel has everything u need, safety box, hair dryer, bedroom slippers except iron and wardrobe. But the design is great and modern with a 42' LCD TV and it's HD!! Super sharp!! The best part definitely is the LOCATION! 2min walk to MTR, 5 mins to end of Temple street, 8mins walk to Ladies Street with lotsa good eateries around the hotel. just right next to Nathan rd. U have the best of everything here! Will not hesitate to book this hotel again during my next visit to HK.

Overall the standard room is really small. ( appx 2.5 m by 2.5 m(incld of bath). u can basically switch off the televison without getting off the bed. luggage wise, you will have to put it at baywindow.
Thus if you are not travelling light please book the deluxe room which is bigger and not so confined.
yes, the hotel is beside the coffin shops . you may like to look for alternative if you mind the fact of passing by the shop in the morning.
the location is a plus as its less than 5 mins from yaumatei B2 exit.

toilet and bath are combined. there is no seperator so the bathroom is thoroughly wet after shower.

Its newly opened so overall it still look good clean and comfy.

Stayed at the hotel from 17-20 Mar. Good location which is near to Yau Ma Tei MTR and less than 10 min taxi ride from the Kow Loon train station which is the easiest and cheapest (HKD70 per person) from the airport. You can easily find some local foods at the temple street, less than 5 min walk.

Satisfied with the overall services (e.g. free WiFi, friendly check-in staff, room is small as expected, standard breakfast) except for the hard mattress which is more suitable to the elder folks. Another negative point is the bad surrounding which is in the middle of 2 casket shops, few units away.

The main lobby is still under renovation.

Expect to simply "stay" at this hotel...nothing else. Service does not. During 3 night / 4 days, i met a total of 4 staff (including maid). Do not ask for anything "extraordinary" like a wake-up call, which they missed. Breakfast is poor, the breakfast room too small if the hotel is fully booked, as happened last weekend. out of 3 mornings, I had breakfast once since the other 2 times, the room was full.
Air conditioning the first night so noisy that I could not sleep and had to turn it off. Result: Woke up with a headache next morning. Then the misssed morning call which almost made me miss an appointment. Pillows are not comfortable. Then there are only English TV channels, no news channel at all. At night, you hear the ringing of the elevators since it rings every time it moves... Free WIFI is nice, but only if it works. Very very slow... :-(

Overall, the weekday rates are fine and reflect the lack of service. However, do not use the hotel on weekends, when rates skyrocket.
