This little jewel (and I truly do mean little) serves up the most wonderful dim sum. The baked BBQ pork buns are a must try. Unlike traditional pork buns, these are encased in a golden sweet pastry. Much like a scone. They come in a serve of three. One would not be enough. Our party of three all agreed that they were our favourite dish, however everything we ordered was delicious.
Be prepared to wait for a table. This restaurant only seats about 25 people so the turn over of tables is enormous. The system to get on the waiting list is entertaining to say the least. The door girl / man (it changed a few times) occasionally glances up long enough for you to hold up your fingers to indicate how many people you wish to book for. This is followed by some grunting & some shuffling of papers while your number gets added to a growing list of hungry diners. We were given a menu (English & Chinese are available), told that it would be at least an hour and to come back.
I would recommend getting there early to put your name on the waiting list then go for a walk through the Mongkok market. We got there at 1.30pm and then had an hour and fifteen minutes to wait after we put our names on the list. Unfortunately we had already been to the market and had arm loads of shopping so decided to hang around until our table was available.
This restaurant is very basic as far as decor goes, but the food is still great. Most dishes are about 22HKD which is approx $3 AUD . All this and a Michelin star. What's not to like?
