“Great things come in small packages.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2010

The rooms are very small, but it is such a great location and relatively good price that overall it was a great place to stay. Right in the middle of the action in Hong Kong, Kowloon. The staff were great at keeping us busy, and arranging a taxi to the airport for an early morning flight. There is so much to see around Hong Kong, that you need to spend little time in the room anyways.

This little hostel is a fantastic little place to stay and great value for money given the location.

The staff were very friendly and helpful in directing us around the city, plus they honoured our booking which we made several months in advance (We also changed our plans on multiple times and they were quite accommodating as a result). Other pluses include the overall cleanliness, the showers are hot, TV with DVD player, nice artwork on the walls, comfortable bed, clean towels and linen, they tidy up the room each day, feels very safe, free (and fast) wifi, aircon works very well, generally it is quiet however in the morning you can just hear the traffic pass by.

On the downside, the rooms are small! We stayed in the double room and the bed is actually a 1.5 double bed rather than a true double. There was only enough space to open our suitcase on the floor and that's about it really. We also moved to a triple room, and there was more room to swing a cat, and place our suitcase but if three people stayed there it would be a squeeze with the luggage. However, we just used the hostel as a place to sleep rather than a place to hang out (if so then I'd find another place to stay...but it is just a hostel and not a luxury hotel). As such it was perfect for us.

There is no lounge room to sit and meet other travellers, but there's a nice little cafe next door on the same floor called the Peace cafe. A nice place to relax with a drink and play a board game after a long day of exploring the crazy city.

I took my son for his 10th Birthday surprise trip and Hop Inn was a recomendation thru a Thai Forum I use a lot (Phuket Info). We arrived late (thanks to AirAsia) but HK connections and immigration are 1st class and speedy. Hop Inn was easy to find given the detailed instructions Simon sent - Richard on the night desk was welcoming and helpful.

The room (9) we had a bunk bed - a perhaps my son wriggles around too much but some foam on the top bunk connectors would cut out the squeaky sounds in the otherwise quiet clean and cozy room. Free water and internet provided and so close to everything.

I'd definitely stay again and recommend for a friendly short stay, and Simon's inside knowledge on the best places for local Chinese food were worth every HK$.

My first Inn experience, my room was small but not a problem, this is HongKong. It's clean, comfortable bed. Friendly staff, kind and helpful. Wifi worked and free. Great value place to stay in Hong Kong.

made a booking for 3 adults for a triple room back in March which was confirmed by email, Correspondence went back and forth all good, then a couple of weeks ago i emailed to say i would only need 2 beds now as third adult was not coming Hop Inn then said they never had a booking from me but then contradicted them selves to say other people booked the room before me so i had no longer a booking with them, would of been great if i hadn't of correspondened before our trip on the 1st of nov..I would not be in business today if i ran my business like them.

This place was lovely. Great location and the two hosts Simon and Wilson couldn't be more helpful. The rooms were small but I think its what can be expected in Hong Kong. It opens right onto one of the main streets and there's plenty of retaurants nearby. Only 5 mins walk to the star ferry too. DVD's to borrow to watch and Simon and Wilson were always on hand with a map or advice on where to go. It would have been good if there was a little chill out area as the place was literally on the 2nd floor of an apartment block off the main street with all the rooms off a main corridor, but I couldn't fault the service and friendliness of the staff. Plus Wifi was available and actually worked in all the rooms. For the price of it though it was great!
