“1st time - no regrets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

My first adventure to stay in a Guest House in Hong Kong. No regrets!

I stayed at Golden Crown Guest House from 3rd to 5th November 2013. Thanks to all TA reviewers who recommended so strongly and they were not wrong.

I paid HK420 for a Twin Room and HK470 for a Renovated Double, which is very good value when other sites around the same area are way above HK500.

I can now advice those who are still looking for a good, clean, safe, cheap and convenient place to stay in Hong Kong….

1. Look no further

2. You need to plan 4 months ahead and place a booking because of its popularity

3. Good point to note is that they do refund booking deposit (some places don’t)

4. Convenient to book and pay through Pay Pal

5. Once a booking is done, you automatically become a member and you can communicate with the management through email.

Other points to take note when you arrive in Hong Kong are….

1. If you are in a group of 2 or 4 you can buy Airport Express Train to Kowloon Station at a discount. (Costs HK$220 for group pf four) From there, take a free shuttle bus K3 to Holiday Inn, which is beside Golden Crown. This proposal is faster and more convenient than bus A21. I should add – more comfortable too. I have used the A21 in my previous trips.

2. Purchase your Octopus Card at the airport. If you are over 65 like me, just get a Senior Citizen Card - no necessity to show proof of age.

Room Tip: Renovated rooms are better

located very near to MRT TST Station, just walk approx 3 mins! you can explore all over HK from here! near to KFC and MCD to help you from hunger in the late at night :))
the room is extremely small and the bathroom is 3x smaller.but i think every budget hotel in HK has a very small room like this. the room has 1 double bed (the call it double even though IMO it's a single bed!) and a small dresser only. water dispenser available outside.but it's very clean and comfortable. the staff is very nice especially the lady who always greets me with smile, thank you! you are unforgettable! it's kinda hard to meet such a nice people in HK haha.but Kenny the owner was nice too tho.
i bought cheaper tickets for some tourist attractions here such as Disneyland,Ocean Park,The Peak and madame Tussaud museum, ect. you better buy them here!
overall it was a nice stay and worth the money i spent.

Room Tip: better choose renovated rooms as they are clean and comfortable.

I was at the Golden Crown Guest House for 3 nights, with 11 people, 6 rooms on 22th of Oktober 2013. I had booked for 5 “renovated rooms” and 1 “not-renovated rooms” .

I knew rooms would be small. To my astonishment I received 2 rooms with no window at all, just a ventilation tube (I am not sure the ventilation fan had been renovated). Another room had a small window (10 cm wide) in the bathroom. The rooms smelled like they had not been aired properly for a long time. I had room 103, 106, 107, 108, 608, 612.

The people of my group went “berserk” and complained of claustrophobia. But it is very difficult to find other accommodation in Hong Kong. So we stayed. This was a very bad start of our trip.

On Tripadvisor this hotel received a very high ranking (number 2 for B&B). I am sorry to say, but the rooms without window are just good as storage facility. Do not put people in there.
My organization will never come back to this place. An I am advising people to check first, before you accept the room

Room Tip: Some rooms have no window, just a ventilation tube

Forget about all those reviews on Chungking and mirador mansion! that building was a bad impression since the entrance! on the same road, and a better location, Golden crown GH is the right choice on a budget. buses to and from the airport is just next door, and opposite the road. MTR TsimTsha Shui exit D1 is also next door. Location is crucial when travelling, so keep this in mind.
Rooms at Golden Crown was small, but all you need is there. AC works well, hairdryer, toilet amenities, clean bathroom and clean rooms , just what you need after a long day of wandering in Hongkong. Also there is a free dispenser hot and cold water in the aisle.very usefull.
Would indeed come here again.
Get the renovated rooms, and book far ahead, for this Gem is usually full.
receptionist speak good english and are really helpful. thanks to eric!
they also sell tickets to macau (to taipa terminal), disneyland etc which are cheap. non-Guest can also buy here too.
LOVE IT!!

Stayed in this guesthouse end October 2013. The experience was very pleasant. The quad-room was spacious with 2 double beds (not double deckers). Excellent value for money. Everything worked well - efficient air conditioner, 32" flat screen TV with free channels and movie-on-demand (6 movies), good water heater and powerful hair dryer (wall mounted in bathroom). Housekeeping was efficient. Discount tickets to theme parks and Macau ferries are available. Unbeatable location with easy access to ALL public transportation and a wide variety of food. The popular chain restaurant Tsui Wah is round the corner, a minute walk away. Stayed there for five days and I've met all the reception staff through their shifts. They are excellent for courtesy and efficiency. Will I return? Yes, most definitely!

We booked a superior quadruple room two months before our arrival date. Since it's already peak season, we have to add a few dollars from their published room rate. We made a deposit thru paypal then payed the remaining balance upon arrival. It is quite hard to find the entrance to Golden Crown Court because it is small so remember that it is right next to Standard Chartered Bank.
The room is clean, with two double beds. The free WiFi have fast connection speed. the water pressure is good, they change the towels everyday. The location of the guesthouse is excellent since it is near the MTR station, Star Ferry Pier is 10-15minutes walk and there are lots of fastfood chains and restaurants nearby. It is also near the shopping areas. The bus stop for A21 bus (airport) is also near.
They also sell discounted tickets to Ocean park, Disneyland, the Peak and Ferry going to and from Macau.
This is a great place to stay in Hong Kong without having to pay high.

Room Tip: Book a superior quadruple room

I just came back from HK for a 6d5n stay at Golden Crown Guesthouse at TST. I'd booked a quad room and a couple room for my family. It was indeed a great stay. The housekeeper will clean the rooms daily, replaced with clean towels. Comfortable beds and enough space to walkaround and put our luggage bags. Excellent location, with MTR TST Station Exit D1, right next to the building. Great location for food too, with Tsui Wah Restaurant right behind and a number of char chan teng across the road at Lock Road. Everywhere is within walking distance.
I got the tickets to Ngong Ping 360, Macau ferry, The Peak & Wax Museum, at discounted prices from Golden Crown Guesthouse. I saved a lot of time from queue-ing up at ticket counters!!
