“excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Ideal on-airport location with fast and easy access to downtown, airport and world expo.
Quality and selection of food very good.
Complimentary shuttle services to/from the airport terminals, adjacent golf course, outlet shopping....for business or leisure an ideal choice for Hong Kong

A brief 2 nights stay. 3 ladies with 3 kids ... As a school holiday getaway, we booked it as it's the nearest hotel to Disneyland, as DL hotels are fully booked. We continued with 2 additional nights in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong island with a boutique hotel.

Room/Bed:
Based on online comments, we booked 2 rooms which supposed to have 2 Queen beds, but it turns out to be super-singles size, had 2 nights of poor sleep quality. The bed is really just good enough for ONE pax.

On the 2nd night, after a long day at Disneyland, we reached hotel to discover that our room keys are deactivated?!?! (2 rooms' keys = 4 cards!) We had to go down to the counter once again to get re-activated. When asked why, the lady at the counter, just said without any expressions ... "It's probably because you placed it near your mobile phone." My friends and I both replied, but all 4 cards are not working when 3 of us carried different cards ... guess what ... she simply kept quiet.

Service
Before the trip, the hotel staff is extremely unhelpful when I called to ensure we have the right reservations through Hotels.com. They simply refused to listen to what I hope to enquire. True enough, when we arrived, the instructions from Hotels.com to them was wrong. I asked the Check-in counter politely for the view which allows the kids to watch the landing and take-off of the planes, he didn't ... he gave us 2 rooms facing the Expo. Disappointing.

In the room, we called to request for more bottled water, which it's not possible for us to get at such a remoted place ... unlike hotels in town, there are a lot of Kmarts/7-Elevens. They constantly repeat the same advice, "We ONLY offer 2 bottled of water a day for each room." I'm pretty sure the hotel is on a drive to cost-cut ... Disgusted.

In-room Bathroom
The shower and tub has an awkward design, it's dangerous for old folks, children and tired travellers.

Location
Convenient if one plans to go EXPO, as it's just next to it. A 30mins shuttle bus service to-fro Tung Chung Outlet Mall. Unfortunately for Disneyland, there is ONLY one ride at 10AM to, and back at 8.45PM. On Day 2 of our DL visit, the 10am morning shuttle was packed with a bus-load of Mainland China tourists (We wondered, don't they have their own tour coach, why are they using the "shuttle"?), and we had to wait for 30mins for the next one ...

Spa Bathroom
We had to use it to freshen up since we arrived at noon and the rooms are not ready (till after 3pm) ... It's one of the dirtiest and most untidy Spa/Fitness Bathrooms I had ever ever been too ... Marriott's standards ... I'm loss for words.

In-Room Dining
We ordered breakfast for the boys in-room, it was probably the most enjoyable moment of the stay, the food is served warm and tasty.

Is it Child-Friendly Hotel?
Nope ... not at all ... didn't even try ...

We were staying at the sky city Marriott as was convenient for my husband's work.
The location was terrific for proximity to the airport without feeling like an airport hotel. The free shuttle was great and the staff were very friendly!
You can catch a train into central Hong Kong from the MTR station 5 mins walk from the hotel. The trip takes about 30 minutes. Very convenient and easy to do!

We only stayed one night in Hong Kong so I chose this hotel for it's proximity to the airport. It was easy to find the free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel where you are greeted by friendly, English speaking staff who will take your luggage up to your room for you. Our room was huge and overlooked the harbour, (but being on Lantau Island the view is pleasant but not spectacular). The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, one of the best I've slept in, with lots of fluffy soft pillows, perfect after a long flight from France. The bathroom was luxurious and had all the things you need, shampoo, hairdryer, shaving cream, toothbrushes, etc. The shower was fabulous, even had a rainwater style shower head (which I know in this green era is not good but I kept my shower short!) There was also an in-room safe, iron and ironing board. Wifi is free if you are a Marriott reward member (free to join). I think it would be better to just give all your guest free wifi, it's not a cheap hotel! We went to the Man Ho restaurant in the hotel for dinner, which was very nice but I though a bit expensive for what it was. The service was very good, the food perfectly good, but a bit pricey. After check out, we got the complementary shuttle bus to the closest train station the next morning and visited Hong Kong central for a few hours before getting the shuttle bus back to the hotel, who was holding on to our luggage for us, bought it out straight away for us to catch the shuttle bus back to the airport. It was all very efficient. If you want a hotel near the airport or HK Disneyland, I would highly recommend SkyCity Marriott, for longer stays, I think I would probably want to be on Hong Kong Island, just because most of the sights and the restaurants, etc are not on Lantau.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view, the other side is kinda dreary.

Really nice. Haven't had great airport hotel experiences in the past, but this one is managed differently somehow.

Good vibe, amazing service and lovely room at the Marriott at the Hong Kong airport. Would recommend if you are caught there for night on your way to and fro.

Stayed for 2 nights in June.

The plus - The room was very clean, especially the bathroom which was almost sparkling in white marble. Bed was very comfortable, and the room size is good. Room is exactly as you see it on the web. Hotel location is very quiet (when there are no exhibitions at the expo). Sign up as a Marriott member for free and get free internet. There is a S1 public bus outside the airport to the nearby Tung Chung and airport express train to airport that cost only HKD 3.50 and HKD 5 respectively using the octopus card, Service overall is keen and polite. The lounge is a nice place to hang out and prices are reasonable. Great for aircraft spotting - A380s, 747-8s, see them all.

The minus - Lifts has no security control - a little strange for a relatively new hotel in this day and time. Guaranteed a non-smoking room when I booked a month ago but was left with a smoking one. But there was no smell at all. They placed a bottle of mineral water that is payable to consume by the bedside which I thought was a little sly. Two bottles of water are provided free daily though. Aircraft taking off can be heard although the sound in largely contained. Folks who need to get into town more than once should stay elsewhere.

This is an airport hotel. Excellent for an early flight, or late arrival into Hong Kong. Shuttle bus to hotel, quick and easy check in, rooms large, functional, some with views over the sea. Excellent beds, bathrooms and plenty of storage space.

There is shuttle to the outlets and train station, and this is an excellent hotel to explore Lantau island but would not recommend this if Kowloon or Hong Kong island were the main focus of your trip.
