“Excellent dim sum! Went back again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2011

My partner and I went to this place for yum cha after the receptionist in our hotel recommended it. It was not a disappointment! Staff were efficient, nice ambience and good quality dim sum were served! English friendly too since the menu has both English and Chinese. Ordering the tea initially required me to speak in Chinese but I saw many Westerners there so shouldn't be a problem. Beats popular place like Maxim's Palace, which was a huge letdown for us! A MUST VISIT for those staying in TST!

“Exorbitant pricing and tasteless food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2011

My only bad experience in Hong Kong! Thought of having a nice dinner on our final night in Hong Kong. Made the unfortunate move of choosing Super Star Seafood.

From stepping in, they could not decide where to sit us, leading us around. Ask for fruit juices, they insist we order tea and did not answer my query on the juices. After ordering tea, the waitress then said fruit juices are available and started to push for juice order which i then declined.

Requested for recommendation, she can't seem to advice. Subsequently recommended food which is expensive, poor in taste and not even appetizing. We requested no chili on our food and the prawn came with chilies. When asked, they insisted that it is just a little bit and when ahead to serve us with it. Prawn was small and not fresh.

Fried rice with crab meat literally came with green beans, eggs and very little crab meat. Worse fried rice I have tasted in my life. Fundamental if any Chinese restaurant cannot get their fried rice even to acceptable level, they should reconsider their trade.

Noodles came over fried and tasted slightly burned / charcoal. Not much ingredients but meat and some sprout beans. Poor recommendation.

Only saving grace was the tofu.

Not recommended unless you like burning money and lots of it to go with that. Definitely a no no for us next time we are back in Hong Kong.

Last but not least, when asked for receipt, they came back 5 minutes later with the wrong value. "Top class" service in a "top class" restaurant.

Recommendation: Please avoid at all costs

“Great, authentic Dim Sum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2011

We had such a great time going here for dim sum during a 48-hour jaunt to Hong Kong that we came back the next day (and we came from Manhattan so we can get a pretty decent version where we are).

Both days we were there are on the early side, before 11am, and were the only white folks there; the rest were all Chinese - always a good sign. The waiter we had, a woman wearing a nametag saying "Stephen," was attentive but feisty and wound up doubling as entertainment with all her antics. Everything we had was outstanding - okay, most of it - a couple things were weird. And as white tourists, we had no problem ordering some of the dishes shaped like animals; the fried sesame pork buns shaped like elephants were as tasty as they were adorable.

So good, and great location if you're staying at any TST hotel.

“Outstanding Grand Center Branch in Kowloon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2011

I have enjoyed eating at the branch of the Super Star Seafood Restaurant Group at Grand Center in Kowloon. I am happy to report that this restaurant serves very good and authentic Chinese cuisine, including Dim Sum and other dishes. Each time I have visited, I was the only non-Chinese person in the quite large restaurant. The restaurant is clean, comfortable and very attractive, and has attentive waiters and other staff. It is a very busy restaurant, with prices comparable to other dim sum and more up-scale restaurants in Hong Kong. There is a good variety of food, and what should be warm/hot is served warm/hot. Like most/all Hong Kong restaurants, English is not well understood, but I felt very comfortable and welcomed and was able to order based on photos and some limited English descriptions in the menus. I have enjoyed such things as GREAT jelly fish, pan fried sticky rice, very good noodles and dumplings of various kinds, nice deserts, and more at this restaurant.

“They don't speak English and they are shy...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2010

They don't speak English and they are shy servicing English speaking customer. This is not your regular push cart dim sum, everything is made to order. Food is excellent. Orgasmic. Service is bad. Overall a very positive experience.
