Had lunch at Coyotes in Wan Chai recently and found their Mexican food to be of generous serving sizes, food tasty enough and margaritas fine.
During his lunch we tried the lunch set, hard shell tacos, which were served as two large, stuffed tacos. Meat was ok but could have been seasoned better. Several Coyotes hot sauce options sort of solved that problem as well as giving a bit of a kick to the tacos. Pre meal soup was nice as was the small dessert serving and coffee (rating 3.75 of 5).
We also tred the chicken burrito that was a substantial meal size as well. Chicken was grilled decently but there was too little in the burrito which was mostly stuffed with refried beans, which did taste nice, making the burrito pretty good in the end. Mexican rice and black beans were ok, again the entire dish was made better with some of the hot Coyote sauces (rating 3 of 5).
Overall, the lunch was good enough if you enjoy Mexican food, a bit pricey at HK$450 for two diners having lunch but this is Hong Kong so no real surprises on the price front. In the end, we'd consider Coyotes again if eager for Mexican and in this area of Wan Chai. There is another Mexican restaurant across the street called Algave that is a similar option.
