“Let down by construction works and a poor attitude”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Hongyadong is an attraction in itself, built over 11 floors on the edge of the Jialing River in a style that is supposed to reflect old Chongqing. There are restaurants, cafes, bars and souvenir shops as well as this hotel. Unfortunately there is a massive construction job going on next door where they are building yet another bridge. Work begins at 8am and continues till late evening. The hotel warn you about the noise but have an unapologetic attitude and do nothing to compensate. Having said that the hotel itself is not bad at all. If you are lucky enough to get a river facing room the view would be lovely especially at night. Our room however faced the cliff and the view was less than inspiring! The room was quite large, clean and well appointed. Flat-screen TV, free computer, minibar etc. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and large. The hot water however tool a long time to arrive! Breakfast was very good with a mixture of Chinese and Western foods. If you don't mind being woken up by a pneumatic drill at 8 am everyday this is not a bad hotel!

Room Tip: try and get one that faces the river!

Room is quite large however it's 11 pm at night and there is super loud karaoke music mixed with construction banging noises filtering in to my room. HVAC seems to filter in smokey air to my room. Appears clean. Bed is the typical plank of wood hardness.

This hotel is a part of the Hongyadong complex of shops, cafes ally ways, you enter on the 11th floor and go down to all other facilities. Many rooms over look the Jialing river but this is not a great view soon to be greatly influenced by the construction of a massive new bridge across both major rivers. The location is good for shops and food outlets of a variety of type and quality. Breakfasts are good with a variety of options. Staff have very little or no English skills or other language skills. This presents problems when you are trying to sign out. Prices are very reasonable and the hotel offers value for your money. What the future will be when construction is more advanced and completed is a big question. Would I stay there again? That Is questionable.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that avoids the long march from the lifts and the view of the rock face of the cli...

Very close to the cruise docks and good view of the river. The food hall on floor 4 has lots of Very reasonable food stands. Then go to floor 6 for the bars overlooking the river. The rooms were very clean loved the mirrors on the beds. We paid 45 pounds for river view room.

Good value for money, rooms are big, beautiful and spotless, breakfast with lot of options so you will be able to find something for your taste even if you are not a big Chinese food lover. Location great - inside the traditional Chinese shopping mall with souvenir shops, some local food and sweets that is very tasty and some of the best hot pot restaurants in the city. You can easily spend a day just wandering around the hotel. I would say maybe 4 star hotel according to European standards.

Room Tip: Ask for the room away from the street noise

Perfect location, great room, large and clean, with beautiful and clean bathroom. Too bad for the horrible smell that came from the restaurants outside. We kept the windows closed all the time but couldn't keep it outside.

Staff is very friendly but didn't speak enough English to answer to some of our questions. We were looking for some information about transportation and they weren't able to help us.

Enormous breakfast buffet with a lot of Chinese food but almost no western food. The waitresses were staring at us all the time, which we found quite inappropriate.

This hotel is a good 3 star hotel, breakfast is good for chinese
but poor for westeners, (take your own from the supermarket),
The rooms are a little dated, and small. but overall cosy and clean.
The hotel is located on top of the mountain at hongyadong center.
For tourists a nice place to visit, many souvenir shops, and restaurants
also open in the evening, for a stroll...and a bite!
One tip!, take a room not close to the hongyadong shops, they make
a lot of noise in banging some food with an hamer outside...........
over and over again........
Greetings A.P.
