I stayed at the hotel during a trade show at the China National Conference Centre. The search criteria were proximity, reasonable comfort and price. I booked a non-smoking room but it didn't smell like it. The room was facing a small atrium which means no view and limited daylight for the lower floors. My colleagues got rooms with tiny bathrooms - if they closed the shower curtain, the toilet bowl is enclosed in the shower. The whole bathroom floor was wet.
There were a few conferences/events at the hotel during our stay. So the lobby was scattered with some conference recept desks.
The breakfast was OK - lots of choices, except the poor coffee.
I was told by a taxi driver that the hotel used to be a state-owned 3-star guest house and had been refurnished and upgraded to a 4-star hotel before the Olympic Games.
But I think it still a 3-star guest house.
The surrounding area is uninteresting. The next metro station is about 5-10 minutes of taxi (Olympic stadium)
