“Excellent hotel, but pricey breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

Stayed in this hotel for several nights while exploring Beijing.

The hotel is located in an exclusive area, with a very upscale mall nearby. The check-in was fast and efficient. We checked into a regular room, which was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Unfortunately I do not have elite status at the Marriott so I did not enjoy any upgrades or extra perks, but still enjoyed my stay very much.

My largest complaint is the outrageous price of the breakfast, which comes to a little more then $40 a person. $80 for breakfast for my wife and I were a little hard to justify, so we walked over to the mall where there are a couple of Coffee shops including a Starbucks and ate there instead.

WIFI is available for free in the public lobby area, but was painfully slow.

Regular taxi's are parked in the street in front of the taxi and readily available. Close and easy access to some of the key attractions, including the Forbidden City.

Outside the pricey breakfast, not much else to complain about. Great hotel in a great central location.

Room Tip: I stayed in a regular room and was pleased with its quality.

I have stayed here twice over the past six months, and there are a lot of positives about this hotel. Rooms are well equipped and impeccably clean. Great breakfast in the lobby restaurant as well as in the executive lounge. Location is terrific with great proximity to shopping and the metro. I really like the executive lounge but they could improve in a couple of areas - for example, they are constantly running out of glassware! Generally, service in restaurants and bars could use improvement. Concierge is so-so - I expected more expertise in making restaurant recommendations and providing directions than they were able to deliver. Great spa! All said, will definitely stay here again... Very good choice for business travellers.

Location is excellent, just steps away from a Metro station, is a very exclusive area of Beijing. The Ritz Carlton is connected to this property and both hotels share some common spaces such as the Spa. Facilities are excellent and food is great. Every body was attentive, rooms were impecable. The check in and check out was done really fast.
The area around the hotel is upscale with several other five stars hotels, luxurious shopping centers a restaurants. Forbidden city and temple of heaven is just ten minutes away using public transportation.

I have really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, the rooms are very comfortable and leave little to be desired. The hotel is immaculate and everyone has been extremely helpful while I have been here. It is in a great location and it is close to a lot of attractions a long with my job. I would recommend the upgrade to the executive suite, it is nice to be able to grab a drink or snack at basically any hour and the breakfast on the first floor is amazing. I would stay far away from the Loong Bar. My coworkers and I went there for something simple and ended up paying the equivalent to $35 for a Denny's Club sandwich and a water, I honestly think Denny's would have done a better job. The service was so slow and no was in there, the sandwiches were tiny and fries cold, the food sat on a tray for 5 min before they served us. It was a very frustrating experience and surprising since we have had such a great experience since we have been here. But that aside I would stay here again, we will just not come back to the lounge and ensure our coworkers don't as well.

Room Tip: Don't eat in the Loong Bar, slow service, cold food, not worth what you are paying for.

Like to personally thank Bella from concierge for being helpful. She gave great advice on places to visit. She was even kind enough to run outside to say goodbye to us as we left the hotel in a taxi to catch our flight (she was speaking with a guest as we exited the lobby).

The hotel's breakfast buffet was excellent. Great domestic and European choices.

The nearest train station is less than five minutes walk from the hotel.

There's an HSBC Bank a half a block from the rear entrance of the hotel. Definitely withdraw money from there if you're an HSBC customer. Bank of America customers can use China Construction Bank's ATM located next to Nobu restaurant in the hotel's rear entrance. Don't use the automated currency exchanger in the hotel.

Across the street, there's a shopping mall. In the basement is a food court. Average price of a dish is 20RMB. There are also low-cost restaurants in there. I believe the restaurants are directly across from the hotel while the food court is a bit more west. Both locations are connected in the basement.

Taxi to/from airport will cost approximately <100RMB, even with a little traffic. For the price, taking a taxi is definitely worth it. Taxi drivers in Beijing are generally honest.

Don't ever take a solicited "tuk tuk" or moped ride. They will try to scam you. They may even try to mug you. Always hire a licensed taxi.

Great location in Chaoyang business district, and it really is one of the better JWs I have been to. Very nice hardware, and the service is as one would expect in a 5 star China hotel. The breakfast is very good, but even for Beijing, I thought the other food in the restaurants was too expensive, especially rooms service. If you are looking for a very comfortable business hotel in Chaoyang, the JW is certainly worth considering, especially when you factor in the Marriott loyalty program which is very good.

Very Clean comfortable, non smoking rooms really are non smoking rooms. Good quality facilities well located. Friendly staff with many speaking English. Located near Ritz Carlton and big shopping centre that has all the over priced luxury brands plus food court, supermarket and other small shops underneath.
