“Truly enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

I don't know if its the best. I would need to taste all the other restaurants offering Beijing duck. But the service is good, the food is excellent, the wine is great value for money (especially the champagne). The décor is modern and pleasant, just as the presentation of the dish. There is whatsoever to dislike about this place, which makes diner it a truly relaxing and enjoyable evening.

One afterthought: yes, the waiters do not speak very good English, so what. I am French, if I went to the US or the UK, should I expect the waiters to speak French? probably not. This is China and 95% of the patrons are Chinese... enough said.

“Roast Duck Extraordinaire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

I wanted duck so the hotel recommended two places. The front desk at the first place were rude so we went to DaDongs.

You walk in and the lobby is packed with expats. We waited 40 minutes while we watched these chefs roast these ducks in 7 open wood burning ovens. They would take the crispy roast duck out of the open oven and away it went to your table.

A young guy carved the small pieces of duck table side and placed it on plates. We had a great time sampling lots of other flavors with the duck to see what one was best. They all were!

Id go back for sure and highly recommend it but you will wait.

“Completely stuffed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Recommended by a Chinese person, who said that although it was on the expensive side it was worth it (a whole crispy duck and pancakes for two people around 280 rmb). It is less greasy than usual. She said reservations are usually necessary, but rang ahead to get us a table on the same day for about 5pm. We were the first ones there but within about 20 minutes it started to fill up mainly with families.
We were served quickly, and a number of free dishes arrived as well, including a dessert, so couldn't fault service, presentation or content. We were very full by the end.
The menus have pictures and English translation, but just ask for the duck and you'll be pointed to the right page.

“Great tasting duck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

As the name suggests Dadong specialises in Roast duck. There are 4 locations to this upmarket franchise in Beijing, so they are fairly easy to find. The duck here is some of the best I have ever tasted and I am more than happy to recommend it to anyone whom is after a nice classy night out. The steamed dumplings were also very tasty. Great atmospheric restaurant but be prepared to part with your cash as it is quite expensive compared with average Beijing prices.

“Probably the best Beijing Duck in Beijing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

This is an award winning restaurant (Best Chinese Restaurant of the Year, Best Beijing Duck and more..), famous for their roasted ducks.
Be patient, and wait some 45 mins for your duck, and you will be rewarded with the best Beijing Duck you can imagine!

It's not a cheapie, but I don't think anyone will regret, because the food is of super quality, the restaurant is stylish and very clean .

Actually I went here already in august 2010, but I wanted to share my thoughts of this special restaurant. I highly recommend this place
