“Good location but service was poor...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Was in Beijing for 6 days and chose this hotel due to its location and quite a number of good reviews on TA. We booked the room via booking.com and we got a reasonable fair rates for 2 rooms in the basement. Rooms were small and not very clean. Toilet looked dated and need a good scrub. No lifts to access the basement rooms. Receptionists were not really helpful. They gave informations that were outdated and not very keen on recommending places to visit. I believed that's their cultural as most locals in Beijing were generally not friendly anyway.

The hotel is located quite near to shopping malls and eateries. You can actually walk to Forbidden City from the hotel. It took us about 30 minutes to walk back to the hotel from Forbidden City. The landscaping surrounding the hotel and rooms were quite beautiful with a lot greens.

I suggest you scout around for better deals in Beijing, with their rates I think you can get a better deals elsewhere.

Apart from the good location(it's in the heart of Beijing like the title suggests) everything else in this hotel is awful. The hotel's staff are very rude and speak very little English. WiFi was terrible(never worked). The room was dirty and although we were promised a room with garden view we ended up in a basement with less light than a prison cell! Although it was relatively cheap I would never stay there again.

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs, the basement with garden view, it is closer to a prison cell than to a hotel roo...

Good location, near metro station, shopping area WFJ nearby.
Famous sightseeing within reach, eg. Tian An Men Sq, forbidden city etc
Hotel staff speaks limited English though, not very friendly
Rooms are ok, pillows on the softer side
Overall good budget hotel

Room Tip: Don't pick cheapest rates rooms.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights with my family. We booked 2 twin rooms. Rooms were comfortable and clean. It is conveniently located to Wangfujing street where you can get food and shopping (5-10 mins walk away), Tiananmen and Forbidden city (10 mins walk away). There are also bus stops located at the hotel's doorstep and brings you to major sights such as Drum tower, Houhai etc (6-8 stops away, RMB1 per trip).
The hotel also provides 2 free bottles of water per room everyday. The hotel front desk staff were also friendly and helpful. They were patient with questions.
Some things that can be better:
- The shower was somewhat choked. And the bathwater did not flow down to the pipes smoothly. Sometimes the water could accumulate to 1-2cm high, with your feet soaked in them.
- Internet connection was unstable. There was one night, in which none of us could log onto its wifi network.

The hotel is in good location to Fobidden City (15-20 minutes walk) and Wangfujing street (15-20 minutes walk). There is a bus stop opposite the hotel where you can take bus 60 or 82 to the old town area (Beijing Bell and Drum Towers), about 15 minutes journey. Nearest subway is the Tiananmen East station (15-20 minutes walk from the hotel). As it is central location, subway lines can go many places in all directions.

Hotel itself is a 3 star hotel, reasonable price and decent accommodation. Reception staff are helpful, can speak Mandarin and English. One restuarant serving simple western and chinese food. Breakfast is alright with both Chinese and American food.

Overall, good location and price reasonable, recommended for short stay in Beijing.

Room Tip: Higher floor or away from lobby (noisy when people walk past the pathway to other rooms.

I am just completing my second stay at this hotel. The location is fantastic. Easy walk to many locations such as the Forbidden City, shopping, the street market etc. it is also close to the mainline subway. Situated in a very busy area but it it is very quiet. It is clean but a little tired. I would stay at this hotel anytime. Breakfast is not bad and there is a traditional restaurant right across the lane. Very safe area to walk at night.

but its proximity to Tianamen Square & the Forbidden City more than makes up for that & it is but very economical when compared with other hotels in the vicinity. Dinner in the restaurant was a mistake especially as there is a perfectly adequate restaurant with a friendly proprietor just across the road from the main entrance.
The breakfasts, however , were excellent. We stayed 4 nights & would definitely repeat the experience. The room was small, on the ground floor but there was no noise from the outside, the mattresses were firm but comfortable and the staff friendly. The assistant in the hotel shop went out of her way to source and have delivered overnight, a camera battery to replace a dying one which I would never have been able to replace before our departure to our next destination which was Iran.
