From the moment we landed in Beijing I was impressed with Raffles, we were literally picked up as we exited the airplane bridge- taken through passport and immigration and baggage - then safely deposited in a comfortable Audi. After a long flight this was a great service.
We were met in the lobby by the wonderful John Spooner- what an asset he is to the hotel, always friendly and understanding- full of great tips and advice. We were offered tea and sat in the lobby to check in and talk to John about our plans for the week.
The location of this hotel is just superb, you are literally minutes from the Forbidden City, Wanjfuging subway stop is 3 minutes away giving you access to everything easily.
Minor issues- We had booked a king room, but unfortunately we had been given two doubles, we could not be bothered to move on the first day- but we mentioned this and the next day while exploring our room was reassigned with no problems. During our stay there was a problem with the water -on one morning we could not shower, however, this was explained by a letter and extra drinking water was provided. As it was out of there control there was nothing they could have done so it wasn't really an issue.
The staff were friendly and efficent, our room was lovely and we had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel.
