“Very good hotel, Great Service, Wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

It's always a nice feeling to write good things about the place you stayed in and be absolutely truthful with yourself. Park Plaza is indeed a very, very good place to stay in Beijing.
Attentive staff, very helpful and informative consierge service, good command of English by almost all members of the staff (a rather rare "commodity" in Chinese hotels even with 5 stars ratings).
Very good sleep quality. I am a light sleeper and the problem of quietness of the room is very important to me. Here everything was really fine and exceptionally quiet.
Wonderful location - 3 minutes lazy walk to the subway station. Rather close proximity to the Forbidden city - about 25 minutes at normal walking speed.
We had a superior double and it was a very good room internal design and last, but not least, everything was impeccably clean and fresh.
On a negative side (to my opinion) was a selection of dairy products in breakfast menu - lack of unsweetened youghurt, very limited variety of cheeses, also only two, three types of fruits.
However, we wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and would most definitely stay there if and when we decide to come to Beijing

I really enjoyed my time here - it was a lovely hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean, internet connection was good, gym was a good size. The location was super and being so close to the metro meant that it was easy to get around. Having said that, Beijing taxis are really cheap and you could get to anywhere you needed (in terms of most tourist destinations) for a few pounds max (often it was cheaper than that).

Things that I found that out that could be helpful:
There is now a fuel surcharge of 3yuan for taxis so if you think the taxi driver is charging more than what is stated on the meter this could be the reason why. The Beijing government has authorised this due to increases on fuel charges. This equates to 30p.

Get a proper Beijing tourist map rather than from the hotel. Their map is free from A Class Travel and contains the major tourist sights, the metro and all the companies to do with A Class Travel Company. However, many of the road names etc were omitted. If you can't get a proper tourist map it'll suffice but there are many hotels etc. where you can get much better ones.

Don't book a tour through the hotel. It was exceedingly overpriced compared to many other travel companies and wasn't much better. At least double the price but what you were getting wasn't worth the extra cost. The tours still had two 40 minute shopping slots where you had to stay in the shop. Lunch was also only a 30 minute slot, less than the time you had to spend in one place looking at things.

Having said that, my friend and I had a wonderful time here and would definitely come again. I just wouldn't use their extra services.

We stayed here for 4 nights in early April and it was great.
It is definitely worth upgrading to the club rooms as you get a great buffet breakfast PLUS daily happy hour (5;30 - 7:30 pm) for minimal cost!
The beds are insanely comfortable too....
Also, the concierge desk is VERY helpful with sightseeing options, taxis, restaurant bookings etc...
This place is highly recommended...

I had booked the Park Plaza for a family holiday and I'm glad to say it was a fantastic choice.

To begin with, we got an excellent deal on the Club Rooms, which entitled us to the lavish buffet breakfast and the evening Happy Hours - unlimited drinks and snacks. The Happy Hours spread was quite good and one didn't need to bother with dinner after that - soup & breads, two hot starters/ snacks, array of dry fruit, two desserts and a decent fruit platter. We had ordered Room Service on two occasions and the food was delicious and arrived very promptly. Breakfast was an elaborate affair with Japanese, Chinese and the usual European fare.

Club Rooms were of a decent size, beds extremely comfortable and the room was well lit - something I'm particular about since I hate dimly lit rooms; bathrooms were also of a good size.

Location of the hotel is simply awesome - it a little tucked away so you avoid the noise of the main road and yet its just a couple of steps away. The hotel is very close to all the major tourist sites and a short walk away from Wangfujing Avenue - a lovely pedestrian area with a lots of designer shops and also a quaint street market. A little ahead of the Avenue is the daily night market where one can sample the street food of Beijing. Although I didn't have the stomach for the various wares on display, it was interesting to see so many stalls serving food ranging from candied fruit to snake to spiders and silk worms. Best part of the hotel - it is located practically 30 steps away from the metro/ subway station - a much quicker and cheaper way to travel around Beijing.

Most impressive aspect of the hotel - the staff and service - we were astounded by the level of service throughout. All the staff always greeted us with a broad smile. The Concierge advised us to use the metro/ subway instead of a taxi and guided us extremely well through the maps and stations. The icing on the cake was the service we got from the chefs in the Bloo Dining restaurant. The chef realised (without our saying anything) that my mother doesn't eat pork - which was the only hot starter that evening. He specially made a lovely vegetarian dish of Chinese greens and rice for mum and later introduced her to the chef who would be on duty the following evening. Needless to say, the next evening also mum got her delicious dish of vegetarian food. We were completely bowled over by the chef's (who was on duty the first day) sensitivity and service.

Will definitely stay here the next time we are in Beijing !

The hotel is located within walking distance to Wangfujing. Good value for money. The staff is very helpful, with good English. Excellent service. The only drawback at that time is because the government's supplies for the heating system was disconnected already in mid March, while it is still cold when we stay at the end of March (the spring is quite late). Overall a good hotel, no reason not to comeback.

Normally stay in this hotel during my regular trips to Beijing. Hotel is conveniently located near WangFuJing, and within 2 minutes walk to DengShiKou tube station. The hotel is very modern, and the staff is always friendly. The gym can be a little better kitted out. 1 thing I find odd is that when you check-in, the check in staff will always try to upsell an upgrade to you.

The rooms are very modern and clean, and there are 2 complimentary bottles of water that is provided in the room everyday.

All in all, good business hotel.

I stayed at the Park Plaza with the family recently. Had a wonderful experience. I have had the pleasure of staying in several hotels all over the world but will rate this amongst the best four star experiences that we have enjoyed till date! Loved the hospitality at this hotel which is also very well located. Its next to a metro station and is in the middle of an upmarket commercial/cultural area. Night market and the Wangfujing street is a 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

The breakfast and in room dining was first class. They have happy hours in the evening with a decent selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic service. The chef's there went out of their way to organise some excellent vegetarian dishes for the family.

Overall kudos to the Park Plaza team whose smiles and attentive service made our Beijing holiday extra special.
