“Finally got there!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

So at first, I was a little disappointed with Wangfujing, because I really compared it to Nanjing Road in Shanghai... Wangfujing is by no means as flashy as Nanjing Lu, but all you have to do is penetrate the harsh exterior of Wangfujing and you can really find a lot of great shops inside department stores which appear somewhat elusive from the outside. So not a lot of them are advertised, but you've got Sephora, Gap, et al all inside these big buildings. Took me a while to find them, but they're definitely there.

“Its China's answer to what the Chinese think Westerners think the Chinese are”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

You have to do it.....but dont get your hopes up. They dish out every think that they think you think they are like including bugs on a stick. You get hassled by pimps and street vendors but its all in good humor. It was my first day and I had a bit of Jet lag so my review is a bit skewed. Its not the best place to go so if you have a time issue leave this out. If you have spare time then its great as part of the whole experience. Tip of the day, when you are done walk north for about two blocks before you get a taxi. That way you wont get ripped off.

“One of Beijing's oldest (in name) shopping street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

One of Beijing's oldest (in name) shopping street; Beijingers themselves seldom come here, but chinese from all over the country won't miss to stroll in this street. The Oriental Plaza (at the southern part) offers all kinds of western big brands in clothing and cars; a big food court offers all kinds of regional food and there is even a cinema. Next to it the famous Wang Fu Jing bookstore with a huge selection of (Chinese) books, there is also a department with import books for english speakers. At the norther end of the the street there is the Dong An Plaza, offering the best Chinese brands of clothing etc. The mall also has a few floors packed with various wester and asian restaurants. The little catholic church north of it is known for young brides to take their pics in front of it and for young skaters to make the public unsafe.

“The most unique dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Wangfujing is known for its night market, famous for its delicious and diverse street food. Here you can snack on anything from pan fried dumplings to salty scorpions, but beware of the stinky tofu (tofu that is fermented and deep fried), despite what anyone says, it is not the cheese of China. My suggestion here is to only eat what comes hot off of the grill or out of the fryer, just to be on the safe side. There are also shops and stands offering various souvenirs, don’t be afraid to haggle. Wangfujing is definitely not your average market, it is energetic and exotic, and truly unique to Beijing.
