“One of the must-see during your lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Enjoyed my trip there, and the crowd is smaller as well. Which means easier and better photo-taking opportunities. It was pretty foggy in March, but still a lovely experience - very different, really felt as though I'm one of the luckless soldiers back in the past, guarding the edge of civilization.

I am fortunate to have the services of Mr Simon Xiao, who made the necessary car arrangements and provided excellent service for a solo female traveller like myself. Given the opportunity, I'd love to go back to Mutianyu again on a clearer day, and/or visit the other Walls in Beijing as well.

“Breathtaking...and not breathless!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Located around 80 km from Beijing the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is fabulous! Take a cable car up ... a lovely ride with beautiful views that spares you a breathless climb. Once on the wall you can easily spend an hour or more walking the wall and admiring the unending wooded canyons and mountain ridges from the watch towers which have been recently renovated. We were there on a clear day and you could see forever. What's more there were no crowds.
Light snacks, chocolates and sodas were available ... but take a bottle of water...you'll need it after the walking and climbing!

“Use the cable car”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Use the cable car to the top of the wall not the chairlift. This way you get to walk mostly downhill to the chairlift/toboggan to come back down.

“Nice Scenery to the Top with a Toboggan Ride Down”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

This is a very scenic part of the great wall, you take the cable car ride to the top. There you can walk and walk on the wall with great views of the mountains. After the tour of the wall you can choose to ride the cable car down or the toboggan...It's a simple sled on a slide, but its really a fun way going down.

“Highlight of our China trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

The Great Wall at Mutianyu met all of our expectations. The cable car ride up was great, the walk along the wall which took about 45 - 60 min. was relatively easy for someone in decent shape and of course, the tobbogan ride down was very fun. We were lucky enough to be there on a partly sunny day in September with excellent views. Really a wonder...
