“This is a first class Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

The Holiday Inn is absolutely first class. The rooms are immaculate and have everything you could possibly need. There is no traffic noise there whatsoever as both sides of the Hotel backs onto car parks for office buildings. The concierge team at the hotel were absolutely fantastic. I’ve read other reviews were people rave about Storm but in our 6 days there I didn’t come across Storm but everyday came across Paul. Paul was absolutely super, recommending us to local restaurants, shopping centres arranging transportation for us, fixing our internet connections as WiFi is freely available on the ground floor of the hotel also. Paul is a superstar and a wonderful Ambassador for Holiday Inn. Be sure to look him up, you won’t be disappointed. Nothing is a trouble. He runs out in the street no matter what time of day or night and hails a taxi for you and instructs the taxi driver where to take you, tells you what the fair should be. When you ask for a restaurant recommendation he first enquires what sort of food you’d like to eat then deals with the recommendation. The breakfast at the Holiday Inn absolutely first class and we had a buffet meal there which was also very good. They have two ATM machine’s there and foreign exchange currency machine, a number of shops. Just across the road is a small liquor store and there is a fantastic little man that works in there. For those of you that like a cold beer be sure if you are planning on staying there a few days that you ask him to put a few beers in the fridge for you each day otherwise everything will be sold to you at room temperature. That’s how the Chinese like to drink beer.
The first night I was there he misunderstood me and thought I wanted a box of 24 cans of beer which was 55RMB or around $10 Australian. Chinese restaurant directly across the road is also excellent but the menu is not in English, they do have pictures. My wife and I had a very funny night there explaining ourselves, you need to point to things and make the animal sound associated with what I thought it was. When I impersonated a pig all the girls looking after us were in hysterics. It seemed I was entertaining the restaurant for that particular evening but we got by. The food is freshly cooked, it’s inexpensive, the restaurant is very clean and popular with locals and fifty metres from the front door.
We also attended the Youth restaurant which is approximately 500 metres from the Hotel to its right. It has a menu in English and the food was fantastic and I can highly recommend it as do I recommend the optometrist two doors away from the Holiday Inn who fitted me with two new pairs of glasses whilst I was in Shanghai. No English but take your own pair of glasses and they will make the lenses based on that. We communicated through the computer, translating English into Chinese and Chinese into English. At the end of the day I got two pairs of glasses that are fantastic.

Room Tip: Nothing they are all well locatted and the beds, pillows are the best we have had in Asia

“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as part of a tour of China. It was part of the tour and not chosen by us. However I would definately recommend it. The hotel has a couple of different restaurants within so we did not need to venture outside but I understans from others in our group that there were several Chinese type restaurants nearby. i cannot comment on its location as we were picked up from the hotel each morning as part of our tour.

“Poor Location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

There is nothing central about the location and there is no plaza that we found! Depending on the time of day, it takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour by taxi to get into city centre. There is nothing around the hotel other than a couple of restaurants and blocks of residential housing. We would have vacated the hotel after the first night but due to booking arrangements we could only leave one day early. The hotel might be suitable for business people but it is totally unsatisfactory for tourists.

Dear Greg S,

It is our great pleasure to have you stay at the holiday inn, and thank you for sharing with us your feeling about the hotel. The hotel is located in Guanganmen commercial and civic area. It is ten-minute drive from the South and West Railway Station and 40 minutes from the Beijing Capital International Airport. Undeniably, the hotel is suitable for business people from all over the world. Besides, some characteristic places full of ancient Chinese cultures around the hotel may interest you, such as Beijing Grand View Garden, Niujie Mosque and Baiyun Abbey which are within a walking distance. You can also taste the most authentic Moslem snacks at Niujie supermarket.

To provide a comfortable and pleasant experience to our guests is the consistent pursuit of our staff. Hope to have the opportunity to provide you with good service next time!

Its nearby attractions include Wangfujing and the Forbidden City. The room I stayed offers wireless high speed Internet access as well as satellite television, movies, coffee makers, climate controls, and telephones. It offers multiple restaurants for guests to enjoy as well as a coffee bar.

“Great Business Hotel-Value+Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

I've stayed at this hotel before, and returned because the Executive club floor is a great value. For those of us who grew up in the U.S., the Holiday Inn is not known as a 4 or 5 start hotel, but they are a completely different story in Asia. First, understand that these hotels are not generally owned by Holiday Inn, the corporate entity. The owners of each property have a licensing agreement for the Holiday Inn name--which is kind of the bad news as it leaves lots of room for differences in levels of quality, and I'm not sure who puts the start ratings on these properties (see my review of the dismal Holiday Inn Temple of Heaven). This is a 4 star hotel, but the management clearly understands the concept of service and is committed to providing an American business traveler what they need.

Here are the little things that are nice. Always a doorman to greet you and take charge of the baggage. Very efficient front desk staff that has your paperwork ready and recognizes that you are a returning guest...simple nice gesture. Room has adequate lighting, a good desk and chair, free wifi, tea and coffee, a full length mirror, a magnifying mirror in the bathroom, and rain shower. One of my favorite things...a choice of pillow types. The shower walls could use a workout with a can of Comet to meet my standards, but the grunge was in a place you would not touch....just wish I hadn't seen it!

The executive club floor has everything you need from WIFI to a meeting room, adequate breakfast and a nice cocktail hour with a variety of food...and NO SMOKING allowed! The staff in this room is really well trained to assist you with every business need you might have, plus they deliver this service with such enthusiasm. I needed help tracking down a fed-x package and TWO women went to work with abandon doing everything from looking up the tracking information to phoning Beijing Fed-x...something that would have been interesting for me to attempt with my limited command of Chinese language.

Checkout is fast and efficient in this club room as you would expect. I would compare their service to the level we've received in the 5-star China World at which we've stayed many times.

Breakfast buffet is also great. Cooked to order food is available if you prefer. On our last day we lost track of time and arrived right as they were breaking down the buffet, but they graciously helped us fill our plates with food we wanted and didn't rush us out or say - NO, we are closed. Again, great customer-centered service. There is a nice restaurant on the property called Zen. We had every intention of eating there one night, but after a beer and some nibbles in the executive club just headed to bed!

There is a great fitness center, and of all things...a golf driving range! Kind of a strange thing to find at an inner city hotel...guess some entrepreneur realized that it would be a nice thing for a bored business traveler!

There is probably only one drawback...location. It's a big out of the way, but taxi rides are still cheap by comparison to other major cities.

Dear IncredibleAsia,

Firstly, we are delighted to see you come back to the holiday inn. It is really a great pleasure to hear the truest voice from our honored guest. We have been committing to provide our guests with a most comfortable and relaxed experience of staying at a hotel. We have been making every effort to provide guests with a 5 star level service. Delightfully, our services exceeded your expectation and made you have a feeling of value-for-money.

Fairly speaking, the Executive Floor at our hotel is really a great value with the benefits ranging from complimentary food & beverage services, business & leisure facilities to club lounge services. Moreover, every returning guest could be well recognized by the front-desk staff and acquire enthusiastic services.
