“Wonderful Outing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

Jingshan Park is a welcome immense green space located
on the north end of The Forbidden City in the heart
of Beijing. Best to visit early in the morning when you
will witness many locals singing, line dancing, ballroom
dancing, ribbon twirling and other activities. You may
just observe or if adventurous join in.

I recommend the climb to the pagoda on the top of
the hill. It has fabulous views in every direction of
the city. It also gives you a real sense of the size,
symetry and order of the Forbidden City.

I can only imagine how beautiful this
would be in spring when the enormous
rhododendrons are in bloom. Next time!

“Self Tour of Jingshan Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

As you exit the North Gate (Gate of Divine Prowess), you will see Jingshan Park directly across the street. You will also see the Coal Hill Pagoda perched high on a hill. You must use the underground stairway to cross the busy street.
Entry cost is Y2, there are exhibitions at an additional fee. The walk to coal hill is a bit strenuous, however there are rest benches along the way. You will be rewarded with the best views of The Forbidden City, metro Beijing and the neighboring Beihai Park.
Afterwards, we were adventerous and took Bus #5 from near the Jingshan Park West Gate to near the Tiananmen West Metro station.

“Beautiful in late fall!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

We climbed to the Peak Pagoda and loved the view of The Forbidden City and Beijing beyond! This park is a natural extension after touring The Forbidden City. We also enjoyed walking around the beautiful park. Well worth the time. It was breezy and chilly the day we were there. Take the weather in consideration if you plan to climb to the top.

“Pity it was winter but”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Without doubt the best time to wander through this delightful, clean and peaceful park would be Springtime when the flowers adorn the sides of every path. That said our winter visit allowed us to watch the Chinese at play, cards, Mahjong, swinging tops, banners and games of badminton were in evidence everywhere. The towers, highly decorated and built centuries ago afforded great views of both the city of Beijing and its mysterious Forbidden City

“Jingshan Park”

Beautiful park with wonderful view overlooking Forbidden City. From the temple at top you can look out over old and new Beijing. Some stair climbing involved but definitely worth it for the views.
