“Serene and Scenic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

You can spend an entire afternoon and evening here and the fee is just 2 RMB. Must see after the Forbidden city visit. Beautiful gardens and splendid views. The short climb to the hill was worth the ariel view of Beijing and the Forbidden city. On the hill you have a Buddha temple with a huge statue of Buddha. Take pictures dressed as medieval Chinese royalty ! There was a local band playing wonderful local music in the gardens and the crowd dancing to it.
Relaxing and rejuvenating visit.

“Centre of Beijing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

A must-see part of Beijing.

Jingshan Park is across the road to the north of the Forbidden City. It is very cool, quiet & peaceful, & you can have a rest while you watch people dancing, exercising & playing with Chinese yo-yos. Once revived, you can find the spot where the last Ming Emperor, Chongzhen, hanged himself from a lotus tree in 1644. Then join the crowds & climb the hill to the Wanchun Pavilion, for the geographical centre of Beijing & spectacular views over the Forbidden City & Beijing generally. Depending on your mood, either continue to explore the quiet park, or re-join the hustle outside its walls. Beihai Lake is just off to the West (although its park is nowhere near as peaceful as Jingshan).

“Better than actually going to the Forbidden City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

We climbed this on an unusually clear day in Beijing, and we could see the mountains off in the distance. You get a good view of the Forbidden City and there are lots of side trails for exploration if you have time. You can't spend a better 2 kuai in the city.
