“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

Good value for the price. Decent location, if you're in ok shape at least, you can walk to the Forbidden City and Tienanmen square. Okay breakfast buffet included in price. Rooms a bit small and not the cleanest, but certainly not terrible either. Concierge was there and somewhat helpful booking tours; certain times of day though the concierge that came in didn't speak great English so it was a bit harder, but what the heck; I'm the one visiting China without speaking the language, so glad for the help we got!

This hotel is literally one building away from its sister hotel (Sunworld Dynasty Beijing) but less expensive. Location is excellent. Enjoyable walk to Forbidden City (20-25 min), a little further away to Tiananmen Square, National Museum of China, and Qianmen Street. Close to Wangfujing (7-9 min). Close to Metro Line 5 station Dengshikou (exit D) - when you stand with the hotel to your back, turn right and walk to the end of the street, turn right and walk another 150m.

Stayed here for 7 nights. It is a basic hotel with no frills. There are two restaurants in the hotel, we ate at the Cafe one night and ordered off the menu. It was good, but a little expensive (which is normal for a hotel). Bed is comfortable, decent english spoken at the front desk, and TV has a couple of english channels. Wifi is free and weak in the evening as more people came online.

A few issues with this hotel:
1. Requested a non-smoking room which we did get, but the floor was not a designated non-smoking floor. As such, we could smell the smoke in the hall and it would often seep into our room. At times it was very strong.

2. It was chilly in our room. I read some reviews saying the aircon was not controlled in the room and that the controls were for show only. Same things applies to the heating. We could not get any heat in our room.

3. Noise. Ok, this is mostly random based on who happens to be your neighbors. Over the course of a week, we had a lot of different neighbors who were very loud. A lot of tour groups tend to book this hotel. This could explain why so many people know each other and will call out to each other down the hall. The same people would also slam their doors rather than them close gently (frustrating at 2 am). We even had to open our door one time to politely "shhhh" some people who were too loud. Another factor to the noise were the thin walls and our room configuration. Avoid room 736 or any room ending with -36 assuming all floors are the same. The room door and head of the bed sit on the same wall amplifying the noise in the hall.

Hope these tips/feedback helps!

A nice, clean hotel. Very nice location close to subway and main shopping area. We have experienced some problem with wi-fi, but as soon as we reported it to the reseption they sent someone to fix it. We stayed 3 persons in a room with to queen sized bed an this was fine.
I realy recomend this hotel!

The location of the hotel is fantastic. We stayed here for 2 nights and were able to enjoy nice walks to the Forbidden City (20-25 mins). The neighbourhood is safe and there is a local 7/11 right across the street for all your essentials.

The room was nice and well furnished, however, it was very dusty and didn't look like it had been dusted in a few weeks. The beds were very comfy and bathroom was nice and clean.

The staff were friendly for the most part and able to communicate in English. They weren't particularly helpful when we made an enquiry about the use of a computer. We were watched the whole time and were charged quite a lot of RMB for 15 minutes. These are minor quibbles though.

I would recommend this hotel to all visitors to Beijing as the location for the price is great. A bit more work on cleanliness would have been rewarded with a 4-star rating.

First off I have found that most beds at hotels in China are hard and this was not any different. The breakfast had a combination of Chinese and American style breakfast items. More on the side of local items to try. I just made a breakfast sandwich every morning, which worked out really good. There is a 7/11 store to get miscellaneous items (food, soda, alcohol, sweets, travel necessities, etc). Also nearby is a McDonald's, Post office and Subway. This hotel is near the attractions of the Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square. The staff was courteous. Only some understood English, but I did not find this to be a huge hindrance. I was able to use my 2 prong mobile charger inside the room. As well has my 3 prong extension cord. The restaurant providing dinner inside the hotel was not impressive. It was hard to communicate with the staff here.

Room Tip: In October the hotel shuts off the A/C. So know that if you get hot you have the option of opening u...

We booked our China tour with Beijing Tours under their deluxe accommodations package Sunworld Hotel was offered. The hotel is in a good location to shopping. Here you find major stores especially your American brand stores that one is use to is all in walking distance. There is an ATM directly across the street that offers English translation. Be advised the staff even the front desk speak either no English or select words just to get by. Since I travel all over the world I don't expect everyone to speak English nor do I get mad it only makes me want to learn they native language even more. In regards to the rooms...yes the bathrooms are small and certain areas are overlooked in being clean. Then again I just did leave the Fairmont Makati in the Philippines so I am a little spoiled. Our tour packages included breakfast so in regards to price I couldn't tell you if it is worth it. There is a wide selection of fruits, pastries, omelette station, various juices as well as eastern and western choices.
