“Nice for relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Stroll around, sit and relax in one of the pavilions, read a book. Just nice place to relax in a busy city.

“A lot of fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Kind of an oasis just outside the Forbidden City. Take an easy stroll around the lake enjoying views of Jade Island across the way (if it's not too hazy) and enjoying each passing temple. Some housing gorgeous flower arrangements and towering Buddhas. It was also a joy to once again see locals dancing, doing tai chi and having a great time as were we.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Beihai Park was beautiful to wander around after coming from the Forbidden City. So relaxing and spacious. I was surprised that in the middle of the city there would be somewhere so lovely to walk around.

“Relaxing Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

This park is probably worth a visit with its beauty and history. This used to be one of the private playgrounds of the emperors but is now open to public. A quiet boat ride in the lake will dissipate all your stress. A White Pagoda is prominently seen on Qionghua island. It is a Tibetan design temple built for political reasons during Kublai Khan's reign.

“East side of Beihai works better with a young child”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

This was our first visit to Beihai with a young child. Was very glad we stuck to the east side of the lake. The concentration of local performers seemed higher (it was a Sunday) than what we had seen on the west side before; the rocky landscaping on either side of the main walkway was fun for her to play on, we got to the island quickly (including its caves), the boating gave access to a cool breeze even on a hot day, and we could quickly escape to the simpler Jingshan park in the later afternoon.
