The park itself is not bad but the cable car prices are exorbitant, I recommend going there early because the cable car queue length is about 60 to 90 minutes during peak hours. Great views from the top of the mountain - you can see the whole city and many temples dotted around the mountain. On the bottom of the mountain there are many street food stands.
The problem with Fragrant Hill are the parking scammers who squats at available parking spaces and tries to charge you 150RMB for parking where it usually costs only 10RMB. We tried to complain to the traffic officers on site but they didn't do anything, so I took initiative and confronted the scammer, before I knew what was happening, I was being punched by the scammer - in broad daylight. When my dad called the police, they ran away. Everyone just watched and the traffic officers just turned a blind eye.
When the police arrived, they were very professional and issued me the paperwork I needed for my travel insurance. They taught me a very valuable lesson, if you meet a scammer (anywhere in China, not just Fragrant Hills), just smile and agree, don't get involved, it's not worth it and nobody will help you.
