“Boring!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

The place looks similar to pictures, there is nothing to really see or do here . Its just a very large public square with historic value. Our guide had all the information, which brought a lot more depth to the vast place.
There were a lot of people - too much to walk around.
Better just take a round in your vehicle and learn the historic importance!

“See where history was, and is, made”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Another unmissable site for any Beijing trip. You have to go through some serious security, but they seem to like tourists here and everyone was very helpful. You will need to bring your passports to get into Mao's mausoleum.

“Lots of People”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

When you are visiting Beijing this is a must do, just be prepared for tons of people. I would plan on an hour at most unless you also want to visit Maos Tomb. There were so many people and we had just gotten into town and couldnt yet check into the hotel, so needless to say we were exhausted and opted to not wait in the what appeared to be an endless line to see it. That being said the line did seem to be moving pretty well.
Afterwards take a walk down Qianmen, which is just opposite the gate next to Maos Tomb. It is quite a nice street.

“A lot of effort for little return”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

It's really just a concrete square between the museum and other government buildings. Not much else other than hawkers trying to sell you goods or other tours.
