“Maybe clean but not scrubbed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2014

I spent 7 nights in this hotel because I participated in a Congress in the neighbouring Beijing Conference Centre. The first thing that struck me on arrival was the absence of seats in the lobby, apart from 2 armchairs in a hidden corner. The public parts are not bad and the room (13th floor) was large enough (2 beds, but a single would have been sufficient) with a good bathroom with tub. Yet everything in the room was not really clean or, better said, really rinsed. And the dust in the carpet was removed from the most superficial sheath of the carpet, only. Toiletries in the bathroom were minimal and the wall of the bathtub still was a bit rough from the preceding guests, I suppose.
Wi-fi in my room was working quite well but I have a VPN connection, whereas some colleagues without VPN complained about theirs. Anyhow, I preferably used the wi-fi of the Congress Centre. There was air-conditioning with central control and no possibility to fine-tune it to my requirements.
The two restaurants of the hotel are not bad but they seem to be run mainly by trainees, who largely outnumber the professional staff. The breakfast is quite correct: Asian style and Continental style are well represented, although American and English-style breakfasts are more Spartan, but with plenty of fresh fruit. As usual in China, the linguistic competences of the personnel are very limited, even at the reception desk where only a couple of persons were able to speak English. I hopelessly tried French and German...

Having stayed in another hotel last week in Beijing , this stay is definitely going to be compared .
The rooms are compact and small , with no ironing board !
The breakfast buffet is basic with not much options , simple some fruit , salads , couple of cold cuts , porridge and eggs !
The only greatest point in it's favour is the long internal corridor that connects the hotel lobby to the Beijing International Conference Centre .
The facilities are good but please remember the wi if is chargeable . If you wish to avail free wi fi , then the Convention Centre is the best place .
Good park just across the road where you could walk in the early hours of the morning . There are also a couple of shopping ally's in the vicinity with some good food courts .
The hotel is situated just a stones throw from the OLYMPIC Birds Nest Stadium .
Great location !

Pros:
Good position close to the Olympic park, good breafasts. North star is quite clean, silent and more or less well equipped area (7/11 only 3 mins from hotel, Subway fast food, some small restaurants, etc.) Very convenient - if you are visiting some conference or congress in the nearby Beijing convention center, since they are directly connected. Close to the airport (4th Beijing Ring), approx

Cons:
Typical "modern" hotel in fastly growing areas. Not very helpful staff. Modern - but fastly aging. Some room facilities were not working or damaged. No free wifi/cable high speed internet (for the high price of accomodation???) Free wifi is only in the lobby, but veeeeery sloooow and there are no places where to sit :-( Closest metro is about 15-20 minutes of walk. Center of Beijing is more than 30 minutes of metro ride from this station.

Room Tip: Higher floor you have, better view to Olympic park (or other side) you have

Located basically as part of the older Beijing Convention Center and within a short walk of the Olympic village are the only reasons to stay here. It is a long way from the city center or anything else that is of interest. Rooms were fine with comfortable bed and a generous size for the executive room. No mini bar or other amenities. I skipped breakfast so not sure of the standard. Staff were generally helpful but I can speak Mandarin. There were others staying there with only English so I think they got by fine. Was able to get a taxi from the waiting queue which was a plus. No fitness center but good to go for a inspiring run in the olympic village if the pollution is not too bad!

Room Tip: Executive room was only a few dollars more and I was placed n the top floor further from noise.

No, its a bit costly compare to what you experienced.
Breakfast is with very common food, dont expect nice surprise.
Front desk people, are terrible with english. So tough talking to them, how can i say?
Room, well ...old properties, with fairly clean bathroom.

When we arrived our reservation was in good order and we got to the room very readily. Hotel room was smallish but certainly adequate. Bed were OK comfort wise. Bathroom small without separate shower stall. Air conditioning was becoming a major issue as the weather was becoming warm and even with it on full bore by 2am the temperature was still 26 centigrade. Next morning made multiple calls and after 45 minutes we were told to "open the window" . Impressive. Almost no one past the front desk speaks much, or for that matter any English. A problem for a hotel conveniently located adjacent a major convention center. The morning breakfast buffet was not great but none the less certainly very adequate. Food at catered events we attended in the hotel was appalling. Also don't expect much help from the door staff if you need a cab. Near the Birsdsnest olympic stadium and water cube but little else in the area. Switched to a different hotel after two nights. No chance I will ever stay there again.

Stayed here because it was provided for by the conference organizers.

Food ok.

The hotel is alright. No complaints. Quiet, clean with the basics provided and a few frills. Bar fridge, tea, kettle, hair dryer provided. Its not bad, just no reason to stay here again.
