“First Trip to China”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Location is very good - primarily a business person's hotel. It is close to shopping, walking distance to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City, so it does have a casual side. We only ate in for breakfast and it was expensive, but lot's of selection. Room was great and the workout facility / pool were outstanding. Highly recommend.

This was our first trip to Beijing and my wife and I stayed here for six nights and had a great experience. The pool and spa area is beautiful and was an oasis in the middle of a busy city. The hotel is in a very good location, within walking distance of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. There is an outdoor market and shopping area a couple of blocks from the hotel and there is a subway station and mall underneath the hotel. The room was very clean and modern, and we highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Reviewer, thank you for recommending us on Tripadvisor. Indeed Grand Hyatt Beijing's prime location, being in the heart of the commercial and shopping district is a key reason for being the preferred choice among many guests. Look forward to be of service upon your return to the Chinese capital, best regards.

It's a Hyatt so good quality all around. The pool really is the best part of this hotel both for lap swimming, lounging and kids. There are attendants who provide bar as well as towel service. Good rates for business travelers with breakfast included (assuming your corporation has a relationship w/ Hyatt - otherwise expect it to be pricey). As a western hotel the internet service is routed through Hong Kong so things like Facebook are accessible. One final thing to note - it's often too warm in Chinese buildings, and the Hyatt was no exception.

I stay at a lot of Grand Hyatt's and this one is quite new or newly renovated with nice business rooms. The pool is quite impressive and really is the best part of the hotel. Service is hit and miss and the food in the restaurants was less than average. The internet is brutally slow, even when you pay for the faster service, which makes it incredibly difficult to work.

The hotel is located right above Oriental plaza, a trendy new shopping plaza which connects the main subway, 10 mins from BCD and Jinrong street. Basically in the middle of action. If you are visiting as pleasure, it only takes 10 mins to walk to Tiananmen square. The amazing part is that it is super quiet considering the location they are at.

It is not surprising of the high quality of the room and hotel amenities a top 5 star hotel could provide like Grand Hyatt, but it also gives refreshingly good feeling to get a professional service from their stuffs. In my personal view, that's the soul of a great hotel.

Gym is new and fully equiped, swimming pool is kinda unique and romantic, not for line swimming through if that's what you like.

Everyone is very friendly and helpful especially front desk Gwen Mak. She not only showed her professionalism by helpful tips about the transportation system, but also give my wife and I as the customers of the hotel a feeling of appreciation. Also thanks to "Made in China" serving team, it was a nice dining experience.

If anything, during the afternoon hours, the front lounge is busy. They are a bit short of stuffs and I have to rush to their counter to pay because the taxi has been waiting for a while outside

Room Tip: Any room should be good I believe, the hotel is located far away from any street.

Bedrooms are very comfortable, well equipped and clean. Gym was excellent. However hotel needs to work on customer service with a couple of exceptions including Eastern European receptionist and room service staff, very few smiles, eye contact, nihau's and no above and beyond attitude. Room service meals and Chinese breakfast pricey and disappointing, but plenty of restaurants nearby.

This was our second stay at the Grand Hyatt in Beijing, we stayed for 8 nights on holiday and really enjoyed our time here. We stayed in a suite and it was very quiet as requested ( we were travelling with a baby). The portacot provided was clean and our little daughter even received a toy panda upon arrival, a very nice touch. The service is great, and the pool is amazing!

My only recommendation is in relation to infant car seats. We ordered airport pick up and drop off as we have a baby and needed the car seat, however both times the car seat was not installed properly. I know the Chinese are dangerously relaxed about car seats but it would have been good to get off have the car seats installed properly.

Wow, thank you dear reviewer for this complimentary review of Grand Hyatt Beijing's customer service, guestroom and Club Oasis' resort-style swimming pool. We are highly appreciative of your review as it goes a long way in helping to promote our hotel, both locally and internationally. With regards to the suggestion on the infant car seats, please be advised that we have communicated this valuable input accordingly to the relevant department which will look into this area for further necessary action. Best regards.
