“It's decent”

Beijing Landmark Towers

My stay at the Landmark Hotel was fine. Nothing fabulous, but the room -- smallish, but clean, modern, with all amenities incl broadband in the room -- was perfectly acceptable. I faced the main road, but from the 10th floor, traffic noise was not an issue. For stay-at-home dining options, the enclosed mall has multiple restaurants, incl several fine Asian restaurants. There's also a Starbucks in the neighboring office tower, for cheaper breakfast away from the hotel. Landmark is also within convenient walking distance of the embassy district. All in all, it's decent!

This place was terrible. The bathroom stunk so badly that we had to spray it before we went in everytime. Since the hotel was under construction, I figure they were having problems with mixing water lines and fresh water and sewage.

The only bright part of our day was the breakfast. The receptionists were also generally helpful. When checking out, a number of guests had additional charges on their bill. Watch out for the internet scame! I would never stay here again.

“Ok for a short stay”

I stayed once at this hotel a few months ago and now barely remember it.. This means it's both good (nothing bad about the place) and bad (unremarkable).

The hotel is not fancy like some other Beijing hotels (for that better try the Kempinski next door or the China World). Rooms are smaller than some other Beijing hotels I've stayed at. Very clean though. Excellent breakfast buffet.

Staff was very helpful (as in all Chinese hotels).

Good value, recommended.

“Owned by Chinese intelligence service or maybe haunted?”

I stayed from November 04 till Jul 05. A very shady place for westerners. Lots of gov't types around and very strange incidents in the rooms, well at least in mine. Pretty cheap hotel, good food though. Rooms are small and the staff speaks a little english. The Hard Rock next door is a great place to meet women if that's what your looking for. You need to go after 11pm. If you don't mind having your laptop or any eloctronic device "looked at" then this place is for you. Its a very strange place!.

“Not so great for tourists”

We stayed here 3 nights (in the Hotel). Our room was the tiniest ever, shoved into a corner at the front of the hotel. The noise from the road was therefore incredibly loud, right up until the small hours. The shower and basin taps leaked so much that my husband, having taken a shower, slipped on a totally soaked floor and hurt his foot. They refused to move us but did fix the shower leak (though not the basin) after threats to sue if he got hurt again.

Breakfast was fine, though the staff were rude and very insistent on you showing the correct dated breakfast slip (I was made to go back to my room and bring the slip for the 11th even though I had the one for the 13th). They also wouldn't allow my husband to leave with his breakfast mandarin in his hand (he doesn't like to eat too early). I had to argue that we had an early start, a long day's touring and I couldn't see why he couldn't take his breakfast with him.

This is a hotel for businessmen or those staying 1 night who want something close to the airport. Husband and his brother went to ask the concierge about the hotel's advertised massage services. He promptly led them out into the road and directed them to a corner where they were promptly accosted by two ladies of the night offering something very different!! It took a good 40 mins or so to get into Beijing centre at night (traffic from 530 - 8pm is awful) and so is not a good option for tourists who want to explore a bit by themselves. We'd planned to walk to the Sanlitan bar road (looked close on the map) but the main road seems impossible for pedestrians to cross.

We wouldn't stay there again.
