My husband and I stayed at the Peninsula in August. This after spending the last 10 days in Mongolian Gers. Needless to say, any hotel would be welcome after the "rustic" gers. We walked into the Peninsula and were immediately sent to the Club level floor for check-in. We had a club room, but they upgraded us to a Beijing suite. We were completely fussed over by several people all dressed in impeccable suites. We loved the attention - but here we were all dirty and underdressed - and they were fawning all over US? It felt great. We were sent to the room, and OMG it was so gorgeous!! Very high end and loaded with all the ammenities you can imagine. Sprinkled throughout the rooms were snacks all labeled with descriptons. We ate them as we toured through the rooms.
I cannot begin to tell you how nicely appointed the room was. Two bathrooms, bedroom, closets, office area and large living room with flat screen tv's and so on - curtains that close and open via remote. Absolutely stunning and large!
The club executive level facilities were well taken care of and all the food you could want or expect to see are there all the time. The breakfast plentiful, all the COKE you could want. Nowhere else in China were we freely given refills on COKE! We spent three days at this hotel and nowhere else in China were we greeted so warmly - and by name! Nowhere else in China did we encounter familiar breakfast items - like scrambled eggs, croissants and corn flakes. This truly was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend the hotel. When we go back to Beijing - this is where we will stay again. Unfortunately, I cannot say I enjoyed Beijing that much - way too crowded. The club executive level was a nice getaway from the hussle and bussle of this city.

Our group stayed at this hotel. I have traveled throughout China and I have not stayed at another 5-star hotel that compares. The rooms were fantastic, clean and convenient. The staff were extremely helpful and polite (not always the case if you are a Chinese traveling in China).

And the breakfast spread is an experience in and of itself!! There was the continental pastries corner, the Chinese breakfast corner with rice porridge and all the condiments you could ever imagine, a made-to-order eggs and meat section, AND a European deli-style corner! I stayed there 5 nights and looked forward to breakfast every morning.

The fitness center is also very nice although not 24 hours. They have staff that help you operate the machines, cold water, and fresh air.

Great hotel, great price, great location. You can't ask for more.

We only spent a short period of time at the Peninsula Beijing however we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We stayed in a duplex suite as the rooms are located on the top floor with city views. We had noticed that the other rooms were quite small in size, and we also noticed from pictures posted on Trip advisor that some of the rooms were directly facing another building - we definately wanted to avoid getting this type of view!
The suite was really nice though still quite small compared to other hotel suites. When we checked in, the staff at the main reception were not very friendly however thankfully they were not the people to check us in - they took us to the Club Lounge floor check in. The staff here were slightly more friendlier and professional - they offered us a drink and quickly checked us in. We were escorted to our room which just had beautiful fresh roses placed in the lounge and also upstairs in our bedroom. We were also given a large fruit platter(lots of Chinese fruit that we had not tasted before, it was great to experience their local produce) . Our escort was really nice and showed us around the room - our ceiling to wall window offered great views of the city(our escort stated ' the best views in the city'). The bathroom was quite small though beautifully presented - all marble and has a television over the bath. Both floors were nicely furnished and very modern - more importantly, comfortable.
The Club Lounge benefits are very good- they offer buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and pre dinner drinks/snacks. We actually had the breakfast at Jing instead of the Club Lounge(they give the option of taking breakfast at either Jing or the Lounge - l would definately recommend Jing- so much better! ) Great breakfast, everything you could want for breakfast is available, it's fresh and it's all delicious. For afternoon tea, they offer coffees/teas and biscuits, fine chocolates, sandwiches, scones etc - good variety. The evening drinks are also pretty good - they offer warm snacks and a variety of wines and spirits. If you are staying at this hotel, l would recommed taking advantage the Club Lounge - it's worth the extra cost. The only fault with the Club Lounge is the staff - they are not very friendly or attentive and they look very bored and disinterested - actually, all the Peninsula staff do not offer the kind of service you'd expect from a five star hotel...
The best thing about this hotel is it's location, it's close to the main tourist attractions and around the corner from the main shopping street & a night street market.
Also another great thing about hotel is Jing restaurant - the breakfast is great however the dinner is absolutely scrumptious-definately the best food l have ever tasted! The peking duck is amazing, not to be missed!
Overall, l would stay at this hotel again - great location, fantastic food, nice hotel however staff service could be better.

I stayed at the Peninsula Beijing for 6 nights over Christmas with my father in 2 rooms. This hotel is fabulous and beautiful, truely 5 stars and very reasonably priced for the rooms and service. I booked a Rolls Royce for airport pickup which was a nice touch. They called ahead as we were nearing the hotel so when we arrived their was a team of people waiting on us to take our bags and escort us straight to our rooms for in-room check in! The easiest hotel check in I have ever had.

The rooms were very nice and the location was good. Near the shopping street and also within walking distance of the forbidden city. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. Both hotel restaurants were excellent (but also overpriced compared to those outside the hotel) and the shopping mall in the hotel with every designer imaginable made it fun to window shop. On Christmas Eve they left a stocking in both our rooms with food goodies and a bear dressed up like santa, a very nice touch.

I had an in room massage which wasn't very good at all but for less than $50 for 60 minutes I can't really complain. Also we booked a private tour around Beijing with a guide through the hotel which we were not happy with. However, when we informed the hotel they offered to give us another tour free of charge! We did not take them up on their offer but in my opinion the hotel tours were overpriced for what you get.

Those are the only minor gripes I can come up with...my overall experience at the Peninsula Beijing was about as close to perfection as I have ever experienced!
