“An Oasis of Peace and Comfort in the Capital”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

This is my second trip to Beijing within 6 weeks, on my way to Ulaanbaatar.
I can definitely recommend this fantastic hotel to all business travellers or tourists. It is ideally located in the "Embassy District" and very easy drive from and to the International Airport along the highway. Once you are here, if you fancy a good walk, you can reach Tianamen Square in 40 minutes or 1 hour.
The pool and gym here are the best ! I've had a dinner at the "Astor Grill" which is fantastic and the buffet breakfast and lunch in the Cafe are great !
Happy to say that I was up-graded (maybe March and April are not so busy ?), but the rooms are well furnished and quiet. Bathrooms are big and I enjoy the tasteful furnishings that convey Chinese culture and art.
All the well trained staff speak excellent English and the Concierge is very helpful.
Hope to be back, soon !

We stayed here for a long weekend with our family of five and weren't disappointed. It's a great hotel, and the service is generally also good, although we did have a few language issues that I wouldn't expect in a hotel of this calibre. The rooms are lovely and spacious, it has a wonderful warm feel to it, and is in a great spot. It made a good base for us with our family, and as we have three young kids, made it very easy. I thoroughly recommend it.

My wife and I spent a week in The St Regis, as we were in Beijing on business but had our sons (8 and 2) traveling with us. The service is very professional, room was very nice and they arranged a lovely babysitter for us (not expensive) so we could escape to meetings. Restaurants were great, lobby bar service excellent, only small issue was that the breakfast service was a little limited in choice for this standard of hotel and the service finished early (10am) so we missed that a few times as we were jet-lagged and arrived just as it was closing. That was a tiny issue, as overall we were very happy with our stay and we will stay there again when we return to Beijing in May. You will not be disappointed with this hotel, top class.

Whenever I visit Beijing, usually 3-4 times a year, always stay at the same hotel ; It is The St. Regis where you will feel comfortable like home, arrange your meetings in the hotel, have one of the best breakfast buffets in China.

With its perfect location you can reach almost anywhere in Beijing comparatively in short time even in Beijing's terribly busy rush hours.

Hotel stuff are always very friendly and its butler service is at your footsteps whenever you contact them. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms are really comfortable..

Room Tip: Rooms facing city view are preferable..

This hotel is older and looks like it was renovated a few years ago. It is starting to show some wear on the desks, side tables, etc. acceptable but not at all a new hotel.

Location is quiet and in a nice neighbourhood but really in the middle of nowhere. Not a huge problem as taxis are cheap.

Service was very good and sometimes excellent. Butler service offers you what most hotels offer, if you ask. Not a huge deal.

Breakfast was exceptional. Buffet included many gluten free things. Chinese restaurant for lunch was also very very good and excellent value.

I'd probably stay again but it wasnt an amazing hotel

Feel truly obligated to owe a positive comment on this hotel, which is every atom the epitome of hospitality being perfected.

I stayed for one night in the midst of July 2012.

The Location: Nestled in the Embassies Area. There are two very good restaurants (next door! 1.5 minutes’ walk), one being Cantonese and the other Thai.

The Accommodation: Totally refined. The bathroom emanates an air of noble sophistication, thanks to the superior quality of vanity table marble, smartly designed shower area and tub, spic-&-span toilet. It feels like a bathroom for the noble family.

The bed and period furniture contribute to an ambience of refinement. The foyer is spacious and demurely illuminated. You feel a touch of low profile luxury instantly when setting food inside.

The Butler: A brilliant gentleman with a classical Beijing accent showed me the room and all the amenities worthy of mention. Very pleasing. And all the other staff members are welcoming and pleasant. Quite a sign of in-depth training.

The VERY Highlight: Press Club Bar. On the ground floor. It is a feel that recalls recollections of something relating to London. A truly beautiful setting with brown-leather comfy sofas, an array of refreshments, light drinks and wine as well. The music, the lighting, the ambience all work together to impress you to an unforgettably pleasing extent.

The Gym: Very spacious (this hotel used to host national leaders only, and that might be why). A large variety of weights training and cardio machines, partly surrounded by a tranquil lush garden. The setting is a bit tired but very well maintained.

The Pool: Unbelievably WONDERFUL. Large, deep and covered by a sun roof made of checkered glass. The pool has a verdant flooring and when the sunlight sets in, you feel like being a fish swimming as you like. And the shower area is furnished with chic and posh marbles in white color, looking so elegant and swishy.

And do not miss out on the three relaxation pools at the farthest end of the change room. Quite spacious (everywhere in this hotel is being so) and pleasant sufficiently.

To be honest, this hotel enhances my impression in Beijing a lot. I have stayed in a lot of quality hotels worldwide and I do say that this is truly a refined one.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the new financial area.

We stayed at the St. Regis for five nights prior to our cruise. We arrived late at night and our room was upgraded. However, we had booked a particular room because it had double sinks and although the upgrade was a larger room it had a very small single sink in the bathroom. We spoke to the front desk and they told us that was all they had available as they had given our requested room to someone else. They did, however, move us to a larger room with double sinks the next morning. The rooms are really lovely and so is the hotel, however, we found that it was almost impossible to communicate with most of the employees, including some at the front desk. We were also very disappointed with the food selection in the main dining room. I had put some valuables in the hotel safe deposit box and when I went to empty the box and gave them the key, the person helping me could not find the card I had filled out with my name and signature. They still gave me the items from the box, but did not even ask me for any identification or my signature.

Aside from the above, I would recommend this hotel.
