“Fantastic. luxurious hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for a long weekend to explore Beijing and see the sights. The staff are fabulous, all very well spoken and courteous. I love the special add ons, like being able to call and get butler service for coffee, hot chocolate or having your clothes pressed at any time. Breakfast was a great spread - tasty and fresh - and was complimentary for us due to SPG status. The concierge set us up with a car and driver to take us to the great wall. I really can't think of anything wrong about this hotel, we've had a fabulous stay and I would certainly stay here again.

Excellent hotel... From check in to check out everything was as it should be.

Do not have any second thoughts staying here, I spent over 300 nights last year in China hotels and this clearly is the winner..

Well done to all the staff!

I know this hotel was expensive but in my mind - it was totally worth it. The service is impeccable and it seems the staff cannot do any more to help you.
LOCATION: I don't exactly know where the hotel is situated but seemingly you need to travel by car or taxi to most places. There was not a lot close by in terms of restaurants which meant eating at the hotel which was an expensive addition. We were about a 15 min drive from the square and forbidden city. (Warning - apparently it is very hard to get a taxi from the square back to your hotel!)
FOOD: staying in the suite meant free drinks/nibbles every evening for an hour down in the bar of which the only downside was people being allowed to smoke. Room service menu was good although very expensive ( perhaps not in comparison to the room!) breakfast as excellent - an amazing choice and great quality.
ROOM: We stayed in a suit as we were travelling with our baby and it was lovely - quite spacious and comfortable. The suite came with its own personal butler, carol, who was a delightful young lady who did anything to make our stay more pleasant. It had a beautiful bathroom with a great deep bath and lovely toiletries.
SERVICE: I think this is why the St Regis is 5 stars. All staff spoke great English and were able to help us with anything - booking a driver, booking train tickets, finding restaurants, the list goes on! Upon realising we had our baby, our butler promptly returned to our room to give her a gorgeous stuffed panda toy which she loves!
TRAVEL WITH KIDS: they had high chairs in dining rooms and were very sweet to our daughter. Room was not super child friendly but we managed. They provided a lovely crib with bedding and while the mattress was a little hard (not uncommon in Asia) we just out the doona they gave us under a sheet we bought to soften it.
I would recommend the hotel and would stay here again.

For China, the service here is excellent. The room I had was decent sized and I liked the TV in the toilet which allows you to have a bath and have some entertainment at the same time. I left some personal stuff in the safe after check out and the staff sent it back to me by post. The only little niggle was that my room had a joining door and I could hear all that transpired next door. Quite funny at first listening to lovers quarrels but gets tiresome after a while.

The St. Regis hotel in Beijing is one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed in. I generally take one or two large trips per year and I have been fortunate enough to go to many international locations. I did stay in a suite, so I can't speak about the regular rooms. But, the decor and the service from the butler service down to the general staff was terrific. I was extremely satisfied with the location of the hotel and how at home I felt from the minute I walked into the room for the three nights that I stayed there. I would definitely return to this hotel and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about staying here.

Room Tip: If you don't speak Chinese and you are planning on taking a taxi from the airport, make sure to...
