This small restaurant doesn't even know how to make bad food. Run by two long time friends, the food and the friendly owners (who I think live in back because they are always there) make this a must visit restaurant if you are a long timer in Beijing or are just sick of Chinese food for a while.
The restaurant is on a back alley that is well known amongst local expats but has a bunch of different names. Easiest way is to ask an expat how to get to Home Plate BBQ, a popular option of its own right, and then it is just a couple of doors down from there.
They have the best falafel I have ever had and I often run in to the owners buying that days food at the local wet market where everyone else shops so you know it is fresh.
