I stayed three nights at the beautiful, brandnew Best Western Premier Royal Phoenix Hotel in Beijing. Located down a cramped hutong alley this spectacular white marble hotel greeted me with a marvelous golden door and a gilded lobby fit for royalty.
Although the receptionists barely spoke English, they were extremely helpful and efficient, checking me into my non-smoking room quickly and smoothly.
And what a room! A queen-size bed with four white comfy pillows and two decorator pillows was its centerpiece. On each end of the bed was a night table with a lovely lamp equipped with a convenient dimmer switch. A massive flat screen TV was built directly into the wall facing the bed. A writing desk and a fancy chair nicely complemented the décor of the bedspread and the super comfy duvet. Elegant curtains and original paintings completed the décor. The room had two telephones: one atop the writing desk, and one on a night table.
The bathroom had only a shower but an excellent one with a telephone showerhead and a very large wall showerhead. The sink and commode plus a wall telephone completed the comfortable bathroom. Plenty of soap, fluffy white towels, shampoo, bath foam and body lotion were provided.
The included buffet breakfast had a wide assortment of Asian and Western food, including omelets prepared on the spot to one’s taste.
I heartily recommend this magnificent five-star hotel that is well situated in central Beijing.
