“Wonderful Beijing experience”

This is one of the best hostel or guesthouse I have been to. when I go to a city or town I always try to look for what's most authentic of its own, and I think that it's safe to say that Fly by Knight provides the top choice while keeping the comfort level to the highest. it is located in the most well preserved area of beijing city, with nice friendly locals (away from those touristy places turning into the "bar streets" scenes). I was really visiting beijing. while the building itself was maintained old fashion, they modified the interior really nice and home touch feeling. the staff are always incredible with their help. I want to recommend this place to everyone who really wants to know beijing city.

This is an amazing and beautiful hutong hostel! It is very clean and well maintained. Inside the room, there is a heater. However, the weather in Beijing is very dry, one has to put on tons of lotion. The breakfast is simple and delicious. The staff are very warm and friendly, they are super helpful at giving advice on traveling tips. It just feels like home!! Visitors are strongly advised to bring a torch, because the hostel is located near the end of the hutong and it can be a bit dark during the night. It is close to train station and Wangfujing. When you go shopping at Wangfujing, hop on the tricycle instead of the taxi. Because it can navigate freely in the narrow hutong and stop right in front of the door step. And the best thing about the hostel, free Kung Fu lessons!!!!

The place lets you experience the way local live their everyday business. It is not too far from the train station and the business district. The bed is clean and comfortable. Staffs are accommodating, friendly, and helpful. The courtyard is fantastic. The common dining area allows for casual conversations with fellow travellers.

I was on a 3 week travel in china and beijing was my first and my last stop. both times i stayed in this guesthouse, and was received the highest comfort level and welcomed by the most friendly staff. the house itself is already like a landmark in beijing, purely authentic chinese old house but fully re-invested into a modern house. the beds are incredibly soft and comfy, and the bedding are also top notch quality. location is its best i think, while in the downtown beijing, it was able to hide itself in the end of the alley street so you don't hear any cars or yelling on the street. at night, it was so quiet i can hear the cat walk on the roof. beautiful beautiful central yard with 2 trees. i enjoyed my coffee time and oftern i forgot i was in the capital city of the largest country, but more in an oasis villa.

Absolute quiet reigns in this Classical Chinese courtyard residence in the center of busy Beijing. Fantastic location: a 10 minute walk to Wanfujing and just a few subway stops to Tianenmen, Qianmen, the Forbidden City, and Beihai Park. The staff could not be more helpful and hospitable, even lending guests a cell phone to use during their stay. And the most comfortable bed I've ever had in China. Great value and atmosphere.

A beautiful traditional courtyard hostel. I'm sure that there are lots of these in Beijing - the real bonuses here were that that staff were helpful and spoke perfect English, a free tasty filling breakfast was included (sausage, omelette, toast, bacon, ketchup), it was very clean and we didn't get bitten at all unlike in the last hostel we'd stayed in and most importantly there was really, really comfy beds and bedding. Me and my friend both slept really well.

Extras which are also nice is that the water was normally priced (the same as any convenience store) and there was a honesty bar so you could get drinks or simple snacks any time you needed. Also there was good security with a keycard entrance, good wifi and a nice common area.

A little difficult to find on the first view, but there was locals around who seemed to be happy to help and point us in the right direction.

About a 5 minute walk to Dong Si station and probably about 45 minute walk to some bars etc to the north of the hostel. There were some local restaurants but we didn't go in them.

Please bear in mind that this isn't cheap, so not the sort of hostel you'd stay in on a budget. I'd describe it as a 'luxury hostel.' There are plenty of other cheaper place in town - particularly local hotel chains which are perfectly nice - just lacking in the character of somewhere like this.

I enjoyed my stay here very much, this place has very high reviews and I think they fully deserve them. I was shocked by how beautiful the traditional structures are and they keep the interiors nice, simple and elegant. the bedding and mattress are very comfortable which is rare when I traveled in China. the friendly staff are a big plus and the location is right in the center of Beijing city with a nice walk to the subway station. I fully recommend this guesthouse and would like to return one day.
