“Great vegetarian food in a relaxing setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Apparently this is a Buddhist Vegetarian Teahouse. It doesn't look much from the outside, and we had trouble finding it in the first place (more on this below), but once inside it's a lovely restaurant, with a massive range of beautifully presented food. Reading the menu is like reading a glossy magazine, with colour pictures of all the food. And when the food arrived it was delicious.

Plus it's cheap - we paid about £20 per person, despite ordering far more than we were able to eat. Only expensive thing is the tea, about £5 for a cup of Jasmine Tea. But it's very nice.

The reason we had difficulty finding it is that the address in Trip Advisor is wrong. The address is actually 2FL Shifanghaoting Building Xinyuannanlu, Chaoyang District, Beijing.

“Great vegetarian food, clean and relaxing enviroment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

I found this restaurant via the tripadvisor app when I stayed at the 4 Seasons Beijing. It was close by; it took me ~20 min to walk to the restaurant. I'm vegetarian and wanted to eat a lot before my work dinner (which doesn't cater to vegetarians).

It's on the major road, so it's not too difficult to find and it's on the 2nd floor of the building (the signs don't protrude outward.

I ordered a noodle dish and a classic chinese vegetable dish (potatoes, pepper and eggplants). Both tasted incredible - clean and tasty. The noodle dish is a big portion and good value for money.

The tea is the expensive part of the meal. The jasmine tea I ordered was very fresh though.

I spent around $20 USD total, of which the tea probably represented 1/3.

The environment is soothing; there is a Buddhist feel to it.

“Favourite restaurant in Beijing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

I was introduced to this restaurant by a woman who considers it to be her favourite place to eat in Beijing. I was immediately taken by the tranquil environment and then quickly delighted by the range of creative and tasty vegetarian offerings, all obviously freshly prepared. I'm a frequent visitor to Beijing and this is now by far my favourite restaurant.

“good value of food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

i went to this restaurant by hasard, it's quiet hart to find the location, in the 2nd floor of an office building.

seems the owner if fan of zen and tea culture, also invite lama or monk sometimes to the restaurant.

i'm impressing of the display of each dish, and appreaciate that they're not trying to make fack meat with vegetable or toufu, that's something verk common in china. all the dish looks very zen and delicious. i love the flower toufu soup, amazing cutting. some dished need order in advance. you can also choose the degustation menu pick by chief, from 200-800rmb/person.

for the tea, i think there's better choice in the town.

for the decoration of the restaurant, it's ok for the price, simple, wooden, zen mood. and i recommend book the vip room, it's much more quiet.

conclusion, if you looking for a place where you can appreaciate the food, have a cup of tea and discuss with frient in quiet environment. you can come to here.

the parking is in front of the building, but place is limited, better avoid rush hour.

“Oasis, gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

This hotel is a quiet gem for vegetarians. It literally is quiet, at the back of a building facing a little garden. Service is good, and the menu has English translations though the staff is not exactly English competent - but that is fine as they are quite nice. The dishes are tasty and I have never found anything to complain about. The various set meals are worth it to get a wide variety of choices. It is close to the Westin Beijing Chaoyang (walkable in good weather) and therefore many others in that vicinity like the Hilton and the Sheraton Great Wall. If you are vegetarian or want to be for an evening, this is it. And it is not mock meat either, they have some truly nice stuff.

Funnily enough, I don't think I've ever had their teas.
