“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We were lucky enough to be staying at this hotel on one the few days in Beijing that was actually clear (although it only lasted a few hours) the views were great. All the rooms and all the floors have great views, although my favourite view was of the CCTV tower from the gym.
The hotel was very nice and the rooms well presented with good standards. The restaurant was also very nice (although very pricey so not very busy, and there are 1000's of excellent restaurants in Beijing so I would recommend venturing out).
If you are 'nervous' about venturing out like a few people I talked to were, don t be, Beijing is probably one of the safest cities in the world. Just be patient and acknowledge that in Beijing taxi drivers do not have to take any type of test to become taxi drivers, so very many do not have a clue where anything is. Even if you can speak Mandarin it is unlikely you will know the location all the time, so I suggest either going to a well known landmark near where you are trying to go and the walking or phoning the place you are going to ask for directions for the driver - If you are lucky enough to get a driver who knows Beijing the app Beijing Taxi Translator is quite good.
Back to the hotel. The rooms are great, the bar and restaurant are very nice (though note you can still smoke inside in Beijing) and the Gym and Pool area were fantastcic.
Overall the staff were also very good.

Dear Tomo T,

Thank you very much for staying with China World Summit Summit. As the highest hotel in Beijing, you can have the best view of the city from either our guestrooms or other outlets. We are happy to learn that you had a nice stay.

I noticed that you mentioned having difficulties with transportation. In additional to self-serviced mobile app, you are also welcomed to head to our staffs (Front Office or Concierge) for assistance. I am sure our colleagues would be very happy to help you - either to communicate with taxi drivers or provide you maps/city tour guide booklets for convenience.

Sincerely appreciate your spending time making comments for us. We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future!

The Shargri-La World in Beijing is beyond excellent. We utilized transportation from airport and to rail station. Drivers were excellent. Check in at the hotel was without a doubt beyond expectation. Just can't say too many great things about the hotel.

The rooms are decorated with the finest taste, so at the time I entered I just said: WOW!
I think the hotel delivers the promise of it´s cathegory, being a 5 stars. It is located in the business district, so there´s a lot of movement, some restaurants and shoppings nearby. At the time you enter the hotel you can just relax and enjoy...
I highly recommend it!

Impeccable service from the airport to hotel. One of the best views money can I buy in Beijing. Stayed at the Premier suite - classy decor all around, breathtaking views, very spacious lounge, dining and bedroom. Service was unbelievable - staff worked with urgency and accommodated for almost any request. Highly recommended for both business and pleasure.

I spent a week in this hotel, so you get to know the premises quite well. I stayed on the 73rd floor with direct views of the CCTV building. If possible I would ask to have a room on this side of the building to get a direct view of the iconic building. The interior is Classic, be it a little passé and tired looking, but still very nice. It depends on your personal taste, I prefer slightly more modern settings.

During my stay the pollution was at dangerous levels topping 350ppm and you could not see anything through the windows. But throughout the week the air cleared a bit, even if it was uncomfortable to breathe. The room came with masks, make sure you use them outdoors if in doubt.

The location is good if you want to have easy access to the underground to go to e.g. The Forbidden City and Tianamen square. The hotel is five minutes walk from the silk market shopping mall and sits on top of a high end shopping mall with all Western top end brands. It is 20-30 minutes away from the more traditional quarters with trendy courtyard bars and restaurants. But taxis are reasonable, so the location serves you well in many respects.

The room was very well equipped and even included stationary, with tape, ruler and all. The room comes with a free shoe polishing service and the laundry and pressing service was swift and to great standard. The only challenge I had was that no staff except for at reception or the concierge speak English. This can make some transactions a little difficult.

The breakfast had a great selection, probably not the best in Asia it but was very good. It included fresh pastries, Asian savoury dishes, sushi, egg and waffle dishes to order and freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. The breakfast restaurant has a great view of the city, so it is well worth allowing time for a long and leisurely breakfast. If you don't enjoy filter coffee ask for for a special coffee and you will get a nespresso instead.

The spa was beautiful, be it very expensive. A hour's massage costs north of £100. It is well worth a visit however. The pool was generously sized, again with beautiful views. Apparently James Bond Skyfall's final scene was shot by this pool. The gym was very well equipped, including dance studio and brand new equipment, cold towels, water and headphones. A real treat and a change from the tired gyms I have visited at other hotels.

The restaurant and bar serves satisfactory food, it won't be the best in Beijing but fully reasonable quality. The service in the bar is so so, plates were not cleared away and we were not offered to order more drinks. The night club is well frequented by locals who don't shy away from drink. Don't be surprised to see people carried in and out of the nightclub.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the CCTV building.
