“Beautiful restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Beautiful restaurant, very high end and interesting concept.

As soon as you walk in, the roast duck platform is right in the center of the restaurant as a center piece. Chefs are rotating ducks and preparing them in a clean, impressive manner.

The food was good, service was great, even though very limited in English. Luckily, the menu had plenty of pictures you could point at and play charades to order.

Prices were steep, even for American restaurant standards, but a very worthwhile experience.

“Great duck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

I really enjoyed the duck here. The duck is less fatty compared to some I've had in Beijing and the duck was roasted to perfection. The crispy duck skin dipped in sugar is simply delicious.

They gave us free lychee fruit and persimmon desserts.

“An exceptional eating experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Location
The Jinbao Place Mall is 50 m South of Legendale Hotel at 90, Jinbao Street. You enter the small, exclusive shopping mall and go to the left, past reception and take the lift to the fifth floor. The other lifts only go to the first four floors. Access for disabled is very easy because you can drop off right outside the entrance and there are no obstructions. In the restaurant there is plenty of space between the tables to sit with a wheelchair.

Inside layout
We were welcomed by a group of smiling young women who found our reservation straight away and we were taken straight to our table for two. We were located near the kitchen entrance. It did not smell and we saw lots of ducks being moved around the restaurant and we had a great view of the customers: A highly recommended seating location. The other good seats for a small group are directly in front of the open fire duck preparation area, but you see little of the restaurant besides this area, even though it is fascinating.

The restaurant is very clean and modern, with all the interior decorating and the uniforms of the staff being in black and white. The menu is huge, literally and weighs a lot. The selection is very good and besides duck there are also fish, beef and venison specialities.

Eating experience
The two of us had a large plate of smoked bamboo sprouts, a plate of hot, braised egg plant (cooked in aniseed, sugar and mint – really interesting and tasty), pumpkin soup for two and a whole duck. The duck obviously comes with thin pancakes and filling material/sauces. A free dessert was offered of a cold purified peach mixture and fresh lychees served on ice. With a couple of drinks, the total cost was €60. The quality of the service and friendliness of all the staff was exceptional. The restaurant is not just a touristy place and a booking is highly recommended if you don’t want a long wait. When you book ask for a reservation number, just in case the booking does get lost. It is a great place to go to for a special occasions and there are lots of larger tables for groups of about 10 people available. The meal will take about two hours.

The mall below the restaurant is very good with Gucci, Vertu, Omega, several Italian Furniture designers and some distributors of Chinese jade jewellery to visit.

“Good Restaurant - But Expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

We went to this restaurant after reading the reviews in tripadvisor. The restaurant is very nice and good food, but since we didn't know what to choose besides the roast duck we opted to choose a tasting menu. All the dishes were good but the tasting menu is expensive!!!
