“Friendly and Clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2010

The staff is friendly as stated in other reviews. The Hostel is kinda new so everything works and clean. You have to pay to use their Computer 1CNY per 15 mins, reasonable. They have dumpling party on friday night wich I missed since have to get up early and tired from flight. It's quite a walk from the Subway station if you're carrying a lot of luggage. Do download and print the map from their website, though it's not to scale is helpful in finding the place for the first time.
If I ever go back to China and Beijing will definetely stay there again.

The staff was so great, one even found me when I was lost in an alley at night after a few margaritas! Love this place!

the moment we checked in, we were greeted by Katie, the friendliest and most cheerful hotel staff I've met in all of my travels. She immediately took 3 iced tea and said it was complimentary. she immediately transferred us to a nearby hotel when she found out that there were no available rooms left for us. she also informed us that we can choose to stay at that hotel or be back at happy dragon hostel the next day. she immediately agreed to let us use the shower at night after we checked out. she even offered us towels and a hair dryer, though we are technically checked out of the hotel.

thank you Katie for your smile and friendliness. you have made our Beijing experienced a lot happier. :) I hope that there is at least one katie in each hotel. :)

PS: this hotel also offers a free dimsum party at times. :)

Really enjoyed my stay here.
There was a problem with overbooking when we first arrived but the staff couldn't have been more helpful in getting us to an alternative hotel and picking us up the next day.
The place has a great atmosphere, staff are very friendly and speak good english. Has a nice bar area which serves good food (great cheap breakfast that really set us up for the day)
Location is 10 min to Subway, 30 mins walk to forbidden city but not many resturants nearby (we ate in the hostel most nights).
Room was tiny and the shower was over the toilet - but it is hostel
This was my first time staying in hostel so I was a little bit worried but I shouldn't have been because this place was brillant.

This hostel is perfect.
The staff are really friendly and speak good english.
We stayed in a private twin ensuite, which was only 11 pounds. It was clean and comfortable.
The bar does good food and the hostel can arrange tours.
They arranged a tour for us to go to the great wall and it only cost 17 pounds but we did a lot more than go to the wall. We were given a tour around a pottery factory, a silk factory and a jade factory as well as going to the ming tombs before going to a tea house and treated to a tea ceremony.

My wife and I have travelled extensively around the world and decided to try a hostel/hotel for the first time. The room was excellent value, clean and confortable. The staff were far friendlier than we usually find in 3-5 star hotels. As a couple in our 70's we expected to feel out of place. Quite the contrary was true...we were literally adoped by the staff. The food in the bar was well prepared and cheap. Help in visiting the various tourist locations were well explained and done with much enthusiasm. We have even consdered returning to Beijing because of their warm welcome. Highly recommended if you want budget accommodation combined with 5 star service.

I have no problem recommending this hostel. It is clean, the staff speak English well, there is a free internet cafe, bar with good atmosphere and all for about 150rmb. It's really close to the Subway and Tian'anmen Square and there are all sorts of cheap and good eating places all around. The rooms have en-suite facilities and TV and phone. You can't ask for more and it is more like a hotel rather than a hostel. It was a nice surprise indeed.

It's quiet and peaceful too which is a bonus in BJ. I think it must be a new hostel because none of the wallpaper has yet been torn and no scuff marks on the walls and everything works in the rooms. But this is China - so I am wondering how long it will be before it gets shabby - let's hope it doesn't.

Don't stay anywhere else in Beijing.
