“Great Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Check in was a breeze, plenty of English speaking staff, everything was brand new. Pool, gym, and spa was well staffed and was never full. Breakfast buffet could have been better, bu did the trick. Walking distance from US Embassy, and not far from the Beijing Capital International Airport.

China has gone the route of spectacular to overkill. Everything looks like an obvious attempt to outdo the corresponding commodity in the USA like the uncouth neighbors who just got some money. And by and large, they succeed at it. Hotels are awesome and usually less costly than their American counterparts controlling for location. This one is very good. The room is great. It is new, plush, and fantastic. The view is breathtaking, overlooking the city. I was lucky to have a room on the 17th floor. The decor was modern; shower with hot rushing water, fantastic tub from where you can watch TV, fast and free internet as a Marriott Rewards member....but alas, my $250 per night did not include breakfast....that costs and extra $30....strike....!!! Wake up guys. That nickel and dime mentality should be a thing of the past. Charging for breakfast, internet, and airport pick ups diminishes a hotel to most. Just build the price in. Other than that, the lobby was great; service was fine as it always is in China; there were several restaurants; prices were not extreme but (buffet cost about $35 per person and was really limited and not worth it); food was what you would expect in China. Overall, I recommend this for those less picky than I am. But you can do better in Beijing.

Room Tip: Get a room on the higher floors. The view is worth it.

Stayed in the hotel several times in last few months, was alway good experience. The hotel is located in the new embassy area, not far away from the US Embassy, and a few buildings away from the Renaissance Beijing Chaoyang Hotel (separate review). You can take the airport express to Dongzhimen (last stop), then take a cab to the hotel (38 CNY for the airport express, then about 10-15 CNY for cab fare).

The building is part of the Hainan Airlines Beijing building (different door to get in the hotel). It is relatively a new building.

Checkin was warm, and they even remembered me the second times. I was given a nice cup of tea and a tower, while waiting for assigning a room at the frontdesk each time. The room was very modern, nice decor, and spacious, with a large bathroom. The executive lounge was very nice, even offering free lunch box, if you don't have time to go out to eat in noon time. Breakfast was nice, as a gold member, I could choose to eat at the lounge or in the restaurant downstairs.

There are several local restaurants across the street of the hotel, worth to try, if you want to eat some local foods, and not expensive. I like the hotel ver much, and enjoyed it each time.

The rooms are spacious, furbished with taste and equipped with all comforts. I had a great king-size bedroom with a large bathroom with design bathtub overlooking the room through the glass wall. The hotel is 5 min away by taxi from the Art District, one of the spots you don't want to miss in town!

After having travelled through several cities in China, Beijing was our last stop. Me and my husband stayed here for three nights and thoroughly lived this hotel. The product i was told is post Olympicis, so quite new and indeed very stylish. Staff are extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. We had trouble with our booking on our flight back. The hotel concierge went out of the way to help us confirm our seats. I must say all the staff at the hotel speak very good English.
They have an Indian Restsursnt and a Cantinese Seafood Restaurant. We tried both and we're pleasantly satisfied with both. Very modern and chic. We had our breakfast at the Coffee Shop and the food on the buffet was varied and most of it delicious.
They also have an indoor swimming pool, but since we were tight on time, we couldn't get to use it. And also the gym is modern and very well equipped.
I had read some comments about the location not being very good. I won't agree to that. I feel we were in a perfect place. Very well connected. The hotel staff helped us find taxis each time. T and I must say they are very reasonably priced. Also a subway station is a short walk (15 minutes) away.
All in all I wouldn't be looking for another hotel when I'm back in Beijing the next time.

This place is awesome as all Marriotts ... Top notch!!!! We stayed a club upgraderoom and was very glad we did. Super view and the room was very large, very clean and I felt right at home. The club food was always good with a wide variety and selection.

We ate at the Bestro and I would highly recommend the ribeye steak. I also ordered room service for a late dinner and it was very fast and good.

The staff was top notch, extremely friendly and helpful. I felt like a king during my entire stay !!!!!

Our travel agent booked us at the Oriental Bay Hotel, telling us it was a 5-star deluxe hotel and we hated it. Our trip to Shanghai was cancelled because of a typhoon and we had to spend another night in Beijing. We insisted that we stay in a different hotel and the tour company management drove us to the Marriott. The front desk staff spoke English well, was friendly and helpful, and welcomed us in a way that made us feel very comfortable. Our room was spacious, with a lovely bathroom, soft linens, and a very comfortable bed. There was a full workout gym, an indoor pool with a wall of large windows overlooking the city, and an amazing Indian restaurant. The manager of food services of the hotel was managing the Indian restaurant on that evening. The exceptional food, the atmosphere, the decor, and the gracious service blew us away. This is what we would expect of a high-end, well maintained Marriott anywhere in the world. Of note, J.W. Marriott himself visited this hotel recently. When we were in the Marriott in Aruba, he visited there. This is why his hotels are run so well. He insists on excellence. We loved this hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure the room does not smell of smoke before you accept the room. There is a fine for those who...
