When we first arrived at the hotel there was a man asleep behind the desk on a camp bed, they could not find our reservation and were full so we had to walk 20 minutes in the middle of the night to stay at their other hotel which was run down and crumbling to bits. There was a crack in the wall that we could see through it was that bad. The next day we got to the hotel they had found our reservation. We were on the fourth floor. The rooms are dated and nothing works the kettle was rusty inside, the plaster on the walls was falling off, the floor was dirty with dust and dirt. The windows were all shattered and cracked and did not close properly. The bathroom was on a different level of disgusting nothing had been cleaned there was tooth paste all around the sink and on the mirror the towels were old and smelly and the shower had a concretefloorthat was all cracked and falling to pieces. The tiles onthe walls were dirty and most were missing and the drains Stunk even by beijings standard. We were given a map of Beijing by the receptionist, this was the only tourist info we received from the staff. The rooms was not provided with clean bedding or extra toilet roll. We ate once at the hotel and the food was so bad that we didn't eat it. This may be a budget a hotel but it seriously needs renovating from top to bottom.

The only positive i can add is the location as there is lots to do in the local area. But you'd be better off buying a sleeping bag and kipping in the street than stay at this hotel.

I was forced to book at homekey because most the hotels are fully booked since it was rated at 3 star hotel i thought it was ok even if the price was a litte expensive. We arrived at 1am in beijing and the hotel is very hard to find. It is hidden in a small alley. If it is your first time in such a small alley with bars, foreigners and locals drinking and puking then add some girls where scantily clad you will think that you are in the wrong place and I got an earfull from both my parents. They thought I booked a hotel in the red light district or somewhere dangerous. Well it looked dangerous to me at night too. After around 20min of going back and forth we finally found the hotel. I was looking for a tall building since most 3 star hotels are usually big. When we found the hotel it was rather small. Inside looked like 2 stars at most but the desk had a very helpful clerk who could speak good english, alas the clerk was the only thing good about the hotel. The hotel looked old and outdated. When my parents commented the the bathroom looks old I got a look for myself and it looked almost prehisoric to me. It is by far the oldest looking hotel bathroom I have ever seen. The beds where ok tv and other furniture was old but irrelevent to me because we were staying only for one night. But the hotel did not deserve the 3 star status. It would barely make a 2star and was overpriced. there are many better hotels too choose from. One more thing the area looked bad to us by night but by morning it was totally different. We were amazed at the difference. The area was old but historical. They are many locals and foreigners on the alleyways. It suddenly felt like an ok place. The total opposite of our perception that it was not the right place to be.
